11-07-2026 Matthew 25 v0113 Stay Awake You Know Not The Day Nor Hour

The Gospel of Matthew Ch 25 Verse 1 thru 13

1 “Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3 The foolish ones, when taking their lamps, brought no oil with them, 4 but the wise brought flasks of oil with their lamps. 5 Since the bridegroom was long delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. 6 At midnight, there was a cry, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’ 7 Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise ones replied, ‘No, for there may not be enough for us and you. Go instead to the merchants and buy some for yourselves.’ 10 While they went off to buy it, the bridegroom came and those who were ready went into the wedding feast with him. Then the door was locked. 11 Afterwards the other virgins came and said, ‘Lord, Lord, open the door for us!’ 12 But he said in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

Matthew 25:1-13 presents the parable of the ten virgins, a powerful reminder of the importance of vigilance and readiness for the coming of the Lord. In this parable, ten bridesmaids await the arrival of the bridegroom. Five are wise, having brought extra oil for their lamps, while five are foolish, unprepared and lacking sufficient oil. When the bridegroom arrives unexpectedly, only the wise virgins are ready and able to enter the wedding feast, while the foolish are left outside, shut out.

This story serves as an emotional metaphor for our spiritual lives. Just as the virgins were responsible for their own preparations, we too must be vigilant, as we do not know the day or the hour of Christ’s return. The admonition to “stay awake” emphasizes the urgency of maintaining our faith, practicing righteousness, and nurturing our relationship with God. Each day presents us with choices that shape our spiritual readiness.

The message is clear: to be unprepared is to risk the tragedy of eternal separation from God. The wise virgins, through their diligence and foresight, embody the essence of readiness—an active engagement with our faith in anticipation of Christ’s return. In contrast, the foolish virgins serve as a warning, illustrating the peril of complacency and neglect.

As we reflect on this parable, let us be inspired to seek God earnestly, to fill our lives with His light, and to be ever watchful. The stakes are eternal—either the promise of eternal life in His presence or the sorrow of eternal damnation. Therefore, let us strive to be among the wise, prepared and waiting, for the bridegroom will come at an hour we do not expect. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

11-07-2026 Matthew 25 v0113

**Stay Awake You Know Not The Day Nor Hour**

In twilight’s hush, ten maidens wait,

With lamps aglow, they contemplate,

Five wise with oil, reserves in hand,

Five foolish, empty oil, fail to understand.

The bridegroom’s call is drawing near,

A feast prepared, a time to cheer,

But slumber lingers in the night,

Bound in dreams, they miss the light.

At midnight’s chime, a shout is made,

“The bridegroom comes!”—a call conveyed.

The wise arise, their lamps held high,

While foolish hearts in panic sigh.

“Give us your oil!” the foolish plea,

But wisdom knows, it cannot be,

For each must tend their flame alone,

No borrowed light, no candle’s clone.

So off they dash in search of grace,

While wise ones stand, lights in their place,

The door is shut, the feast begins,

With joy inside, where love comprehends.

Oh, be alert, the lesson clear,

For hearts awake are drawn near,

To meet the call, prepared and bright,

In readiness for love’s true light.

So trim your lamps and guard your soul,

For time is fleeting, eternal life the goal.

In waiting, watch, let faith endure,

The wedding feast is ever sure. Amen.
