10-29-2026 Luke 13 v3135 Blessed Who Comes In The Name of The Lord

The Gospel of Luke Ch 13 Verse 31 thru 35

31 At that time some Pharisees came to him and said, “Go away, leave this area because Herod wants to kill you.” 32 He replied, “Go and tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and I perform healings today and tomorrow, and on the third day I accomplish my purpose. 33 Yet I must continue on my way today, tomorrow, and the following day, for it is impossible that a prophet should die outside of Jerusalem.’ 34 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how many times I yearned to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were unwilling! 35 Behold, your house will be abandoned. [But] I tell you, you will not see me until [the time comes when] you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’”

In Luke 13:31-35, we encounter an emotional illustration of Jesus’ ministry and his profound compassion for Jerusalem, a city marked by both refusal and rejection. The passage unfolds with a warning from the Pharisees about Herod’s threat on Jesus’ life, urging him to flee. Yet, undeterred, Jesus responds with a declaration of his mission: to continue healing and casting out demons. This refusal to be intimidated by earthly powers reflects the steadfast resolve of a Savior who remains focused on the divine purpose.

The verses culminate in a lament over Jerusalem—a city that has consistently turned away from the prophets and messengers sent by God. Jesus’ heartfelt lament, “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem,” expresses deep sorrow for a community that has missed the opportunity for salvation. His longing to gather the children of Jerusalem “as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings” signifies a desire for protection and reconciliation, yet he acknowledges their unwillingness to embrace that love.

As we reflect on this passage, we are reminded that Jesus extends the same call to us today. Just as he longed for the people of Jerusalem to come under his care, he invites each of us into a relationship of grace and mercy. Ultimately, when we hear the words, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord,” we should recognize that this is not merely an ancient proclamation, but a living invitation. We too are being called to come to him, to be part of his kingdom, and to share in his mission of love and hope. Let us not turn away but embrace the call of the Blessed One, for his arms are open wide to welcome all who seek him. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

10-29-2026 Luke 13 v3135

**Blessed Who Comes In The Name of The Lord**

In the quiet shadows of a dusty road,

Pharisees approached with a heavy load,

“Herod seeks your life, so flee, O wise Savior,

The threat is upon you, escape, do us the favor.”

But Jesus stood firm, with a heart like a stone,

“Go tell that fox, in truth, I have always known,

My journey unfolds through healing and grace,

Today, tomorrow, my mission I face.”

“Jerusalem, oh Jerusalem, you who kill,

The prophets who come, with love you could fill,

How often I’ve yearned to gather you near,

As a hen gathers chicks, yet you turn from my cheer.”

Your house shall be left, desolate, bare,

Yet still my heart aches with love and with care,

For the time will come when you’ll see me in light,

Blessed is the one who comes, ending the night.

In this sacred lament, a vision unfolds,

A love for the lost, in the ages retold,

With every bold step, the path he must bear,

For even in sorrow, there’s hope in the air. Amen.
