10-26-2026 Luke 13 v1017 His Adversaries Were Humiliated
The Gospel of Luke Ch 13 Verse 10 thru 17
10 He was teaching in a synagogue on the sabbath. 11 And a woman was there who for eighteen years had been crippled by a spirit; she was bent over, completely incapable of standing erect. 12 When Jesus saw her, he called to her and said, “Woman, you are set free of your infirmity.” 13 He laid his hands on her, and she at once stood up straight and glorified God. 14 But the leader of the synagogue, indignant that Jesus had cured on the sabbath, said to the crowd in reply, “There are six days when work should be done. Come on those days to be cured, not on the sabbath day.” 15 The Lord said to him in reply, “Hypocrites! Does not each one of you on the sabbath untie his ox or his ass from the manger and lead it out for watering? 16 This daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound for eighteen years now, ought she not to have been set free on the sabbath day from this bondage?” 17 When he said this, all his adversaries were humiliated; and the whole crowd rejoiced at all the splendid deeds done by him.
In Luke 13:10-17, we encounter a powerful moment that encapsulates the compassionate authority of Jesus. Here, He heals a woman who had been crippled for eighteen years, straightening her back and freeing her from her affliction on the Sabbath. This miraculous act, performed on a day traditionally reserved for rest, incites criticism from the synagogue leader, who prioritizes religious rules over human need.
Jesus counters this opposition by highlighting the inconsistency in their understanding of God’s law, reminding them that even they would untie their animals on the Sabbath. His healing act not only restores the woman physically but also exposes the hypocrisy of those who oppose Him.
In this passage, we see a vivid illustration of how Christ’s love and power transcend the limitations imposed by human interpretation of the law. The woman’s humiliation and suffering are met with divine compassion, leading to her immediate praise and rejoicing. This scene reassures us that no adversary, whether it be belief systems, traditions, or even human opposition, can stand against the transformative power of Christ. As the scripture teaches us, all who oppose the truth will ultimately face humiliation.
For us, this serves as a clarion call to remain steadfast in our confession of Jesus as our Savior. In a world rife with distractions and adversities, let us remember that our allegiance to Christ is not in vain. Our faith affirms that those who stand against His message will be humbled, while we, as believers, will be lifted up and vindicated. We find our strength and redemption in declaring Him as our Lord. Let us rejoice in the truth that He has the power to heal, restore, and ultimately triumph over all opposition. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20
10-26-2026 Luke 13 v1017
**His Adversaries Were Humiliated**
In a synagogue on the Sabbath day,
A woman bent low, in shadows she’d stay,
For eighteen long years, her burden she’d bear,
A spirit of weakness, a life filled with care.
With eyes on the ground, she wandered in pain,
Her body was bowed, like the grass with the rain.
But Jesus, with kindness, his gaze did unfold,
He saw her, he called her, with love untold.
“Woman, you’re free!” His voice pierced the gloom,
In that sacred space, she was lifted from her doom.
Straightened her back, with a heart filled with grace,
In that moment of healing, the whole world found place.
Yet whispers of judgment waited nearby,
The ruler reproached with a furrowed brow high,
“Six days for work! It’s the Sabbath you see!”
But Jesus, unyielding, replied, “You must surely agree.”
“Is it not right to loose what is bound?
To free those in chains, love’s mercy profound?”
With power and authority, he silenced the strife,
For the heart of the law is the gift of new life.
In the crowd, joy blossomed, like flowers in spring,
For they knew in their hearts this was more than a thing—
It was grace intertwined with the sacred decree,
A message of hope, setting each captive free.
So each bend and each burden we carry with care,
Bring them unto Him; for His love can repair.
In freedom we flourish, in grace we belong,
For the Savior who sees us, has made our souls strong. Amen.
