10-23-2026 Luke 12 v5459 Judge Yourself What Is Right
The Gospel of Luke Ch 12 Verse 54 thru 59
54 He also said to the crowds, “When you see [a] cloud rising in the west you say immediately that it is going to rain—and so it does; 55 and when you notice that the wind is blowing from the south you say that it is going to be hot—and so it is. 56 You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky; why do you not know how to interpret the present time? 57 “Why do you not judge for yourselves what is right? 58 If you are to go with your opponent before a magistrate, make an effort to settle the matter on the way; otherwise your opponent will turn you over to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the constable, and the constable throw you into prison. 59 I say to you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny.”
In Luke 12:54-59, Jesus offers profound insight into the importance of discernment and personal judgment. He challenges the crowds by comparing their ability to interpret the signs of the weather with their failure to perceive the spiritual truths unfolding around them. Jesus points out how they can predict the coming rain or heat but struggle to understand the significance of His teachings and the times they are living in.
This passage invites readers to reflect on their own ability to judge rightly in various situations. It reminds us that discernment is not just a passive activity; it requires active engagement with our environment and a willingness to seek wisdom. Just as the people of Jesus’ time were called to recognize the signs of the times, we too are called to navigate our lives with awareness and understanding.
The urgency in Jesus’ message emphasizes the need for each person to take responsibility for their choices and beliefs. In a world flooded with information and often conflicting viewpoints, it is essential for us to cultivate the ability to judge for ourselves what is right and true. We are reminded that this discernment is not merely an intellectual exercise but a moral one as well, shaping our relationships and guiding our actions.
As you meditate on this passage, consider what signs are present in your life and how you might better align your judgments with truth. Be encouraged to trust your instincts, guided by prayer and reflection, to arrive at conclusions that honor the teachings of Christ and cultivate love and justice in your community. May you always seek to judge rightly and act with integrity. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Judge Yourself What Is Right**
In the crowd, the Teacher stood,
With wisdom deep as ancient wood.
He spoke of skies, the clouds, the rain,
Yet called them blind to deeper pain.
“Look at the heavens, can you not see?
Season’s signs, like a whispered plea.
You speak of weather, of storms ahead,
But the truth of the time, you leave unsaid.
Oh, how you gather, yet fail to discern,
The message of grace, the lessons to learn.
A cry for justice, a call to the meek,
Yet still, you wander and fail to seek.
“Judge for yourselves what is right,” He implores,
Open your hearts, let wisdom pour.
Interpret the signs that dance in your way,
For the time is now, not tomorrow or gray.
A message of urgency, a life meant to lead,
To act with compassion, to sow the good seed.
So heed the call, let your judgment be true,
In the light of His love, find the path meant for you.
In skies above or the streets we roam,
May we seek the truth, may we call it home.
For in every moment, God’s presence we find,
As we strive to be just, and to love, and be kind. Amen.
