The Gospel of Luke Ch 12 Verse One thru Seven

1 Meanwhile, so many people were crowding together that they were trampling one another underfoot. He began to speak, first to his disciples, “Beware of the leaven—that is, the hypocrisy—of the Pharisees. 2 “There is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known. 3 Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be proclaimed on the housetops. 4 I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body but after that can do no more. 5 I shall show you whom to fear. Be afraid of the one who after killing has the power to cast into Gehenna; yes, I tell you, be afraid of that one. 6 Are not five sparrows sold for two small coins?* Yet not one of them has escaped the notice of God. 7 Even the hairs of your head have all been counted. Do not be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows.

In Luke 12:1-7, Jesus teaches about the importance of humility, the dangers of hypocrisy, and the profound care that God has for us as His creations. In this passage, Jesus addresses the crowd, urging them to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. He reassures them not to fear those who can harm the body but to cherish the relationship with God, who holds eternal significance.

This theme of divine care resonates deeply in our lives. I often think back to a moment I experienced while walking into a store. As I approached the entrance, I noticed a group of birds pecking at the ground, foraging for crumbs. It struck me then, how effortlessly God provides for these little creatures. It encouraged me to turn to a person standing by the door and say, “What more will the Lord do for us if He’ll take care of all of these birds, amen?”

It was a small, spontaneous moment, yet it encapsulated a larger truth: If God cares for the seemingly insignificant birds, how much more does He care for us? Jesus emphasizes in Luke that we are of great worth to God, far exceeding the value of many sparrows. The passage calls us to trust in God’s provision and to acknowledge our unique value in His eyes.

In times of uncertainty and fear, we can draw strength from knowing that God sees us, knows us, and cares for our needs. Just as He tends to the birds, He lovingly oversees our lives, inviting us to cast aside fear and walk in faith, knowing we are cherished by Him. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

10-16-2026 Luke 12 v0107

**You Are Worth More Than Many Sparrows**

In the crowd where whispers intertwine,

A warning unfolds, in truth’s design,

“Beware of the leaven of hearts so sly,

Hypocrisy cloaked, like shadows, they lie.”

The multitude gathers, their breath held tight,

Yet Jesus, with love, brings forth the light.

“Fear not what men may murmur and say,

For the truth of your spirit shall lead you the Eternal way.”

The sparrows are many, yet none fall alone,

In the vastness of skies, they’re cherished, they’re known.

If the Father in heaven numbers each hair,

How much more do you matter, how deeply He cares.

So, speak boldly, dear hearts, of the hope you hold dear,

For in every moment, His presence is near.

Though shadows may linger, and fears may arise,

You are treasured, beloved, in His loving eyes.

Thus let not deceit steal your voice from the fight,

For the truth of your worth shines ever so bright.

In the kingdom where love is the measure and gold,

Fear not, for your story in grace will ever be told. Amen.
