10-14-2026 Luke 11 v4246 You Are Insulting Us Too

The Gospel of Luke Ch 11 Verse 42 thru 46

42 Woe to you Pharisees! You pay tithes of mint and of rue and of every garden herb, but you pay no attention to judgment and to love for God. These you should have done, without overlooking the others. 43 Woe to you Pharisees! You love the seat of honor in synagogues and greetings in marketplaces. 44 Woe to you! You are like unseen graves over which people unknowingly walk.” 45 Then one of the scholars of the law said to him in reply, “Teacher, by saying this you are insulting us too.” 46 And he said, “Woe also to you scholars of the law! You impose on people burdens hard to carry, but you yourselves do not lift one finger to touch them.”

In Luke 11:42-46, Jesus addresses the Pharisees, emphasizing the importance of both outward and inward righteousness. He critiques their meticulous observance of the law—like tithing herbs—while neglecting more profound issues such as justice and love for God. This passage serves as a powerful reminder that God’s judgment is not solely based on our external actions but also on the intentions behind them.

We often find ourselves caught up in routines, focusing on the superficial aspects of our faith like attending church or performing good deeds without truly engaging our hearts. Jesus challenges us to evaluate not just what we do, but why we do it. The Pharisees strived for appearances yet failed to cultivate genuine compassion and integrity. This serves as a stark warning to us: authentic love for God must manifest in our actions, not just a checklist of religious duties.

As we reflect on this passage, it’s crucial to remember that God sees beyond our actions; He sees our hearts. Therefore, let us examine what motivates our deeds. Are we acting out of love for God and our neighbors, or are we motivated by a desire for recognition and approval? The latter leads us to spiritual blindness.

Through His words, Jesus urges us to build a faith rooted in love and righteousness. As we contemplate God’s judgment, may we strive to align our hearts with His will, ensuring that our actions spring from a sincere love for Him and others. In doing so, we fulfill His greatest commandments and draw closer to His heart. Let us walk in faith, not merely through ritual, but with a genuine conviction that reflects our love for God in every action we take. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

10-14-2026 Luke 11 v4246

**You Are Insulting Us Too**

In the shadows of the street, a lesson told,

Of a heart so burdened, yet proud and bold.

Woe to you, guardians of the law’s embrace,

For in your rituals, you miss grace’s face.

You give a tenth of mint, of rue, of spice,

Yet neglect what truly makes the spirit nice:

Justice, love, and mercy, the weighty part,

While clinging to customs that break the heart.

You’re like the hidden tombs, whitewashed and clean,

Outwardly perfect, but inside unseen.

People walk o’er you, oblivious to strife,

Unwittingly blind to the poison of life.

“Don’t just see the outside, the garb that you wear,

But seek the depths, the truth, the love you should share.

For those who are heavy, let compassion be found,

In the midst of your laws, let your hearts abound.”

So heed this calling, in each sacred place:

Balance the scales with a generous grace.

For in giving and loving, true justice we find,

A world transformed, united and kind. Amen.
