09-28-2026 Luke 9 v4650 Whoever Is Not Against You Is For You
The Gospel of Luke Ch 9 Verse 46 thru 50
46 An argument arose among the disciples about which of them was the greatest. 47 Jesus realized the intention of their hearts and took a child and placed it by his side 48 and said to them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. For the one who is least among all of you is the one who is the greatest.” 49 Then John said in reply, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow in our company.” 50 Jesus said to him, “Do not prevent him, for whoever is not against you is for you.”
In Luke 9:45-50, we find a profound teaching from Jesus that invites us to reconsider our perceptions of greatness and inclusion. In this passage, Jesus is aware of the confusion his disciples have regarding their status and importance within His ministry. He gently reminds them that true greatness comes not from power or recognition but from humility and openness to the least among us. Jesus underscores this by emphasizing that receiving a child in His name is akin to receiving Him. This serves as a powerful reminder: those who embody childlike faith—innocent, trusting, and open-hearted—are the ones who truly grasp the essence of the Kingdom of God.
When I reflect on this, I am drawn to the example set by children. Their openness, unfiltered kindness, and genuine curiosity inspire me to emulate those qualities in my own life. There is something beautifully authentic about a child’s demeanor. They do not complicate relationships with biases or judgments; they give freely and love unconditionally. In a world where we often measure worth by accomplishments or status, children remind us that the greatest among us are those who are willing to serve, to love, and to be vulnerable.
Furthermore, Jesus’ declaration, “I do not prevent him; for whoever is not against you is for you,” reinforces the spirit of unity and acceptance. This statement calls us to move beyond exclusivity and to recognize that our mission is broader than our immediate circle. Those who may not follow in our exact footsteps can still contribute to the greater good. In a diverse world, this insight encourages collaboration, understanding, and love, reminding us that God’s purposes often align beyond our limited perspectives. Amen.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Whoever Is Not Against You Is For You**
Amidst the disciples whispers, a question arose,
Who among them was truly the most?
For greatness they sought, with pride in their chest,
But in His embrace, there lay the true quest.
A child He took—simple, small, and sweet,
“And to welcome the least, is how you rise to your feet.
To serve and to love, to lift up the low,
In God’s kingdom’s heart, true greatness will flow.”
Yet still in their midst, a man stood apart,
Casting out demons, with fervor and heart.
“Master,” they worried, “he does not belong,
He acts in Your name, but he is not in our throng.”
But Jesus replied, with a gaze full of grace,
“Do not hinder him; he seeks not a place.
For he who is not against us is for,
In the tapestry woven, love binds evermore.”
So let us remember, as we walk this life’s road,
It’s in the small moments our kindness is sowed.
In welcoming strangers, in lifting the meek,
In love’s cherished whispers, true greatness we seek. Amen.
