The Gospel of John Chapter 1 Verse 45 thru 51
45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one about whom Moses wrote in the law, and also the prophets, Jesus, son of Joseph, from Nazareth.” 46 But Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” 47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Here is a true Israelite. There is no duplicity in him.” 48 Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree.” 49 Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.” 50 Jesus answered and said to him, “Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this.” 51 And he said to him, “Amen, amen, I say to you, you will see the sky opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
In John 1:45-51, we witness a profound moment of revelation and recognition among Jesus’ earliest followers. The passage recounts how Philip, upon discovering Jesus, eagerly shares this incredible news with Nathanael. He declares, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the Law, and also the prophets, wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” Nathanael’s initial skepticism is palpable as he responds, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” This question reflects a common bias of the time, yet it also opens the door for a personal encounter that will change Nathanael’s life forever.
Philip invites Nathanael to “come and see,” a simple yet powerful call to explore the truth for himself. When Nathanael approaches Jesus, he is met with surprising insight as Jesus declares, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!” This affirmation astonishes Nathanael, leading him to inquire how Jesus knows him. Jesus responds with a revelation, saying, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” In that moment of divine recognition, Nathanael’s skepticism melts away, and he exclaims, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!”
This interaction highlights the journey from doubt to belief, illustrating how personal encounters with Jesus lead to profound realizations of His identity. Nathanael’s declaration is a pivotal acknowledgment of Jesus as the Messiah, a recognition that challenges each of us.
As you reflect on this passage, I ask you: Will you identify Jesus as the Son of God? Embrace the invitation to “come and see,” and discover the transformative power of this truth in your life. Amen.

Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. **You Will See The Sky Opened**
In the quiet glow of dawn’s first light,
A tale unfolds, both simple and bright.
Here, in the land where dreams may gleam,
Lives Nathaniel, who doubts but yearns to believe.
“Have you found the One?” proclaimed proud Andrew,
“Jesus of Nazareth! Come see what is true!”
But Nathaniel scoffed, with a heart unsure,
“Can anything good from there too?”
Yet curiosity sparked like a flame,
He followed, not knowing, but drawn to His name.
As Jesus approached, with a gaze so profound,
He saw Nathaniel, his spirit unbound.
“A true Israelite!” Jesus spoke with delight,
“In whom there is no deceit, in daylight so bright.”
Nathaniel stood stunned, his doubts cast aside,
“Rabbi! You are the Son of God, my eternal guide!”
“Greater things you shall see, beyond this mere sight,
Heaven opened, angels in flight.”
A vision bestowed, a promise divine,
In the heart of a seeker, God’s truth interlined. Amen.
