The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 19 Verse 23 thru 30
23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Amen, I say to you, it will be hard for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” 25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and said, “Who then can be saved?” 26 Jesus looked at them and said, “For human beings this is impossible, but for God all things are possible.” 27 Then Peter said to him in reply, “We have given up everything and followed you. What will there be for us?” 28 Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you that you who have followed me, in the new age, when the Son of Man is seated on his throne of glory, will yourselves sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for the sake of my name will receive a hundred times more, and will inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first.
In Matthew 19:23-30, Jesus speaks profound truths about wealth, sacrifice, and the eternal life that awaits those who follow Him wholeheartedly. He begins by telling His disciples that it is challenging for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, comparing it to a camel going through the eye of a needle. This striking imagery underscores the difficulty of prioritizing material wealth over spiritual commitment.
The disciples, astonished by this statement, question who can be saved. Jesus responds with a reassuring reminder that with God, all things are possible. This emphasizes the grace and power of God in transforming lives, regardless of one’s past or possessions. It illustrates that salvation is not earned through human effort or wealth but through faith and a willingness to yield to God’s will.
Jesus continues by addressing the sacrifices His followers must be willing to make. He promises that those who give up land, homes, or familial ties for His sake will receive a hundredfold in return and inherit eternal life. This profound promise encourages believers to consider what it means to truly follow Christ—that it may require letting go of earthly attachments and comforts.
Ultimately, this passage serves as a powerful reminder that the call to follow Jesus often involves sacrifice. Yet, the rewards are eternal, far surpassing any earthly gain. In a world consumed by materialism, our challenge is to assess our priorities. Are we willing to give up everything for the sake of inheriting eternal life with Christ? Let us remember that true fulfillment lies not in the accumulation of wealth, but in our relationship with the Lord. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

Ephesians 6:17-20
08-18-2026 Matthew 19 v2330
**First Will Be Last And The Last Will Be First**
In a land where the rich held their pride,
Came a lesson from Jesus, a truth to abide,
“Hard for the wealthy,” He spoke with deep care,
“To enter the Kingdom, for wealth is a snare.”
A camel through needles, an image so bold,
Reminds us that treasures can’t buy what’s gold.
For the heart set on riches can blind and ensnare,
While the humble walk freely, in love they will share.
The disciples, amazed, began to ask why,
“If not the rich, then who can comply?”
But Jesus, He smiled, in compassion He turned,
“For man it is hard, but with God, all is learned.”
In the stillness of faith, a promise unfolds,
For those who have followed, with love in their souls,
A hundredfold blessing awaits in the skies,
In the heart of the humble, true wealth never dies.
So cast off your burdens, let go of your chains,
Seek first what is timeless, where love ever reigns.
For the last shall be first, and the first shall be last,
In the Kingdom of Heaven, eternal and vast.
Let your treasures be kindness, your riches be grace,
For the heart of the giver has found its true place.
In the tapestry woven, with threads of pure light,
Together we shine, in God’s endless sight. Amen.
