The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 17 Verse 1 thru 9
1 After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 And he was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light. 3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, conversing with him. 4 Then Peter said to Jesus in reply, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 5 While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud cast a shadow over them, then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” 6 When the disciples heard this, they fell prostrate and were very much afraid. 7 But Jesus came and touched them, saying, “Rise, and do not be afraid.” 8 And when the disciples raised their eyes, they saw no one else but Jesus alone. 9 As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, “Do not tell the vision to anyone until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”
Matthew 17:1-9 narrates the Transfiguration of Jesus, where He takes Peter, James, and John up a high mountain, revealing His divine glory in a moment of radiant transformation. His face shines like the sun, and His clothes become dazzling white. Moses and Elijah appear, speaking with Jesus, symbolizing the Law and the Prophets. This extraordinary event underscores Jesus’ divine nature and His fulfillment of the Old Testament.
The Transfiguration serves several purposes. Firstly, it reinforces Jesus’ identity as the Son of God, offering a foretaste of His glory. This moment of revelation is crucial for the disciples, providing them with a deeper understanding of who Jesus is, preparing them for the trials they will face, especially His impending suffering and crucifixion. The presence of Moses and Elijah signifies that Jesus is the culmination of God’s plan, connecting the dots between the Old and New Testaments.
When Peter offers to build shelters for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah, God interrupts him, instructing the disciples to listen to His Son. This divine affirmation emphasizes Jesus’ preeminence and the necessity of heeding His teachings.
Jesus then instructs the disciples, “Tell no one the vision until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.” This command indicates that the full significance of the Transfiguration and Jesus’ divine nature cannot be fully understood until after His Resurrection. Until then, the disciples must grapple with the mystery of His identity and mission through the lens of His impending suffering and death. The Resurrection will illuminate the truth of His glory and establish the foundation of their faith. Hence, the Transfiguration is not just a moment of glory but also a pivotal point towards the greater revelation of Jesus’ redemptive work. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Rise And Do Not Be Afraid**
On a high mountain, where silence reigns,
Three steadfast hearts, in awe, remain.
Jesus led them, His friends so dear,
In a moment divine, the heavens near.
A radiant glow enveloped the scene,
His face like the sun, a glorious sheen.
Robes that shone, brilliantly white,
A glimpse of the heavens, pure and bright.
Elijah and Moses appeared in their might,
Two prophets of old, bathed in the light.
They spoke of the path that was yet to unfold,
Of the sacrifice destined, of stories untold.
Peter, in wonder, exclaimed with delight,
“Lord, let us dwell here, in this sacred light!”
He wished to build shelters, a place to abide,
In the presence of glory, where love can’t divide.
But a cloud overshadowed, whispered low,
“This is My Son; to Him you must go.”
Hear Him, they trembled, as fear took its hold,
In the presence of God, a majesty bold.
When the vision had faded and silence descended,
Jesus alone stood, their hearts now amended.
“Rise, do not fear,” He spoke soft and low,
“Tell no one the vision; to the world let it glow.”
In the stillness, they walked, their spirits now high,
With a glimpse of the kingdom, they’d never deny.
In the light of that moment, their faith found its spark,
Remember the day when the heavens left their mark. Amen.
