The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 13 Verse 31 thru 35

31 He proposed another parable to them. “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a person took and sowed in a field. 32 It is the smallest of all the seeds, yet when full-grown it is the largest of plants. It becomes a large bush, and the ‘birds of the sky come and dwell in its branches.’” 33 He spoke to them another parable. “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed with three measures of wheat flour until the whole batch was leavened.” 34 All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables. He spoke to them only in parables, 35 to fulfill what had been said through the prophet: “I will open my mouth in parables, I will announce what has lain hidden from the foundation [of the world].”

In Matthew 13:31-35, Jesus shares the parables of the mustard seed and leaven to reveal profound truths about the Kingdom of God. The mustard seed, though the smallest of seeds, grows into a large tree where birds can find shelter in its branches. Similarly, the leaven permeates the dough, transforming it entirely. These images illustrate how something seemingly insignificant can lead to incredible transformation and growth in the Kingdom.

Jesus explains that the Kingdom of Heaven starts humbly but ultimately brings immense fruitfulness and shelter. This is a beautiful reminder that our faith, often seeming small in the grand scheme of the world, carries the potential for monumental impact. Just as the mustard seed and leaven indicate, our small acts of faith and love can lead to significant transformation, not only in our lives but in the lives of those around us.

Furthermore, in the following verses, Jesus emphasizes how he speaks in parables to reveal truths that have been hidden from the foundations of the world. Those who have faith in Him—who confess Jesus as their Savior—are granted the privilege to understand these hidden mysteries. It’s a call to recognize the power of our confession and belief; in acknowledging Christ, we unlock the understanding of divine truths that have long been concealed.

As you reflect on these verses, remember that just like the mustard seed and leaven, your faith can create ripples of change. By confessing Jesus as your Savior, you are also invited to proclaim the mysteries of the Kingdom. You become a vessel through which God reveals His truth to the world. What an incredible opportunity we have to share the good news! Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Lain Hidden From The Foundation Of The World**

In fields where seeds of faith are sown,

A parable unfolds, a truth well-known.

Like mustard seeds, so small and slight,

Yet brimming with promise, they reach for light.

From humble beginnings, a tree will grow,

Its branches wide, where blessings flow.

Birds find refuge, a safe embrace,

In the heart of the kingdom, a sacred space.

The leaven in dough, it silently spreads,

Transforming the mundane, as hope now treads.

A pinch of grace in a world so wide,

The power of love, it can never hide.

In whispers of the heart, the message is clear,

The kingdom of heaven is forever near.

With parables spoken, mysteries revealed,

In simple stories, our hearts are healed.

So let us remember, in each seed we sow,

The potential for greatness in all that we grow.

For in every small act, God’s wonders we see,

The beauty of faith, like the vast mighty sea. Amen.
