The Gospel of John Chapter 20 Verse 24 thru 29
24 Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples said to him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nail marks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” 26 Now a week later his disciples were again inside and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, although the doors were locked, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe.” 28 Thomas answered and said to him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Jesus said to him, “Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”
John 20:24-29 recounts the emotional moment when the apostle Thomas, often referred to as “Doubting Thomas,” encounters the risen Jesus. In this passage, Thomas, who was not present when Jesus first appeared to the disciples, declares that he will not believe unless he can see and touch the wounds of Christ. A week later, Jesus appears to the disciples again, specifically addressing Thomas’s doubts by inviting him to touch His wounds. Thomas, overwhelmed by this revelation, exclaims, “My Lord and my God!”
This scripture resonates deeply with me, not just because my name is Thomas, but because it reflects a journey I once undertook. In my younger years, I was often skeptical and filled with doubt, much like the apostle. I found myself questioning faith, seeking tangible evidence to support my beliefs. However, as I encountered challenges and sought truth, I learned that faith sometimes transcends understanding.
Just as Jesus lovingly reached out to Thomas, extending grace and solace amidst his doubt, I too experienced a transformative moment in my life. Through prayer, reflection, and the loving support of my community, I gradually surrendered my skepticism and opened my heart to Christ. Today, my faith is not rooted in sight alone but in the profound love and grace I’ve received from God.
This passage serves as a reminder that doubt is not a barrier to faith, but rather a step on the journey towards a deeper relationship with Christ. Like Thomas, we can bring our uncertainties to Him and, in doing so, discover the incredible truth of His resurrection. Now, fully surrendered to Christ, I echo Thomas’s declaration: “My Lord and my God!” Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Ephesians 6:17-20

**My Lord And My God**
In a room where doubt and fear entwined,
The risen Lord, to His followers confined.
Among them stood Thomas, full of despair,
Longing for proof, a sign beyond compare.
“Unless I see,” he softly declared,
“The wounds of His hands, the price He bared,
Unless I touch, feel the scars that remain,
I cannot believe, I cannot explain.”
But then, on a day, when doors were all locked,
Jesus appeared, and the darkness was shocked.
“Peace be with you,” He spoke, calm and bright,
Then turned to Thomas, bringing forth light.
“Come, touch my hands, and feel my side;
In your doubt, my grace will abide.
Blessed are those who have not seen,
Yet hold fast to faith, as I intervene.”
Thomas fell down, proclaiming in awe,
“My Lord, my God!”—wondrous his draw.
In the light of belief, he found his way,
From questioning shadows to bright faith’s display.
For in this moment, truth was unveiled,
In the heart of a man who once had failed.
Blessings poured forth for all who believe,
In the unseen love, as they dare to receive.
So let us remember, with hearts open wide,
To trust in the Spirit, our faithful guide.
For though we may not see Him with our eyes,
In faith’s gentle whisper, His presence confides. Amen.
