06-25-2026 Matthew 7 v2129 Act On My Words Or Be A Fool
The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 7 Verse 21 thru 29
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?’ 23 Then I will declare to them solemnly, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers.’ 24 “Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. 25 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock. 26 And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. 27 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined.” 28 When Jesus finished these words, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, 29 for he taught them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.
Matthew 7:21-29 presents a emotional warning from Jesus that echoes through the ages. In these verses, He emphasizes that mere verbal acknowledgment of faith is insufficient; our true commitment is demonstrated through action. Jesus asserts that not everyone who calls Him “Lord” will enter the Kingdom of Heaven but rather those who do the will of His Father. This important distinction urges us to examine our lives critically and honestly.
Jesus further illustrates this point by comparing those who hear His words and act on them to a wise man who built his house on solid rock. When storms came, that house stood firm. In contrast, a foolish man builds his house on sand, and when adversity strikes, it collapses. This imagery speaks volumes about the consequences of our choices. To heed Jesus’ teachings and integrate them into our daily lives is to build a sturdy foundation; neglecting His words leads to vulnerability and destruction.
The call to not be a fool resonates deeply. We live in a world full of distractions and competing voices, making it easy to overlook the importance of genuinely applying Christ’s wisdom. Let us remember that faith without action is lifeless, and His teachings are not just for our ears but our hearts and hands.
As we reflect on these verses, let us commit ourselves to living out the truths Jesus imparted. May we strive to be wise builders, firmly rooting our lives in His word, acting upon it in love, service, and obedience. In doing so, we prepare ourselves not only for the trials of today but for the eternal promise of tomorrow. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Ephesians 6:17-20

**Act On My Words Or Be A Fool**
In the heart of the mountain, by the sea’s gentle sway,
A Teacher spoke wisdom, transforming the day.
“Not all who cry, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the gate,
But those who do know me, who patiently wait.”
With echoes of warnings, he painted a scene,
Of builders and foundations, what truly lies between.
The wise man, he builds on the rock firm and strong,
While the foolish, on sand, finds his footing all wrong.
When storms come a-howling, winds fiercely arise,
The house on the rock, it stands tall to the skies.
But the house on the sand, in the tempest must fall,
A lesson of living, this truth speaks to all.
“Do what I command you, let your hearts be aligned,
For a life built on service brings peace to the mind.
The path may be narrow, the way hard and steep,
But the fruits of my Spirit are promises to keep.”
With grace in His voice, and authority’s might,
He taught with a wisdom that shone like the light.
The crowds were astonished, his words like a song,
For he taught with a power, a truth deep and strong.
So gather your wisdom, let your hearts be the clay,
In the hands of the Potter, be molded each day.
For the words of the Savior, like rivers will flow,
In the hearts of the faithful, where His Spirit can grow. Amen.
