The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 5 Verse 43 thru 48

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have? Do not the tax collectors do the same?47 And if you greet your brothers only, what is unusual about that? Do not the pagans do the same? 48 So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.

In Matthew 5:43-48, Jesus offers a profound teaching that challenges our natural inclinations. He instructs us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. This is not just a lofty ideal; it reflects the heart of God towards humanity. In a world filled with jealousy and resentment, it can be tempting to focus on the wrongdoings of others, especially when they seem to thrive despite their bad choices. However, Jesus calls us to rise above this petty bitterness.

When we find ourselves envious of those who appear to get ahead through unethical means or harmful actions, we must remember that their paths do not define our worth or our purpose. Instead of being consumed by jealousy, let us turn our hearts toward compassion and prayer. Pray not only for those individuals but also for the strength to forgive and the grace to love even when it feels impossible.

This call to perfection, as Jesus concludes in verse 48, is about embodying the unconditional love of God. It’s about moving beyond our human instincts to judge and retaliate and embracing a higher standard of living that reflects the character of God. By praying for our enemies and seeking their well-being, we not only break the chains of jealousy and bitterness but also align ourselves with the divine will.

In this journey towards holiness, let us be reminded that we are not called to fix others but to transform our hearts. As we step into this divine love, we discover true freedom—a freedom that transcends earthly concerns and embodies the perfect love of God. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. Novena Day Nine for Sam Knight prayers of healing. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**So Be Perfect**

In the hills where teachings flow,

A voice once spoke with wisdom’s glow,

“Love your foes,” the call was clear,

Embrace your neighbor, hold them near.

For under sun and stormy skies,

The just and unjust, He replies,

Both rise and fall, the same winds blow,

In grace and mercy, let love grow.

To those who curse, extend your hand,

Forgiveness sown, like seeds on land,

Through kindness soft, let hearts unite,

Transforming darkness into light.

Pray for those who lead you astray,

In loving kindness, pave the way,

For if we only love those near,

What worth is love? What do we hear?

Be perfect, as the Father’s love,

A high calling from the One above,

In every act, let love abide,

In every heart, let grace reside.

So rise and meet the world with peace,

Let animosity find a way in Christ to cease,

For in our love, we find our place,

Reflecting the Creator’s holy grace. Amen.
