06-09-2026 Matthew 5 V1316 Good Deeds Glorify Your Heavenly Father

The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 5 Verse 13 thru 16

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. 14 You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. 16 Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.

In Matthew 5:13-16, Jesus uses vivid imagery to convey a profound message about the role of believers in the world. He begins by declaring that His followers are the “salt of the earth.” Salt is essential for preservation and flavor, symbolizing how Christians are called to have a positive impact on society. Just as salt enhances the taste of food, our good deeds should uplift and inspire those around us.

Then, Jesus compares His followers to a “city on a hill” and a “lamp” that cannot be hidden. These metaphors emphasize visibility; a city on a hill stands out in the darkness, and a lamp shines brightly to illuminate the surroundings. Our actions, therefore, are meant to be visible acts of love, kindness, and service. It is through these actions that others can see the light of God reflected in us.

The ultimate purpose of these good deeds is to glorify our Heavenly Father. Jesus reminds us that while we do good works, it is not for our own recognition or self-aggrandizement, but to point others to God’s grace and love. When people witness our genuine acts of kindness, they are encouraged to seek out the source of our goodness—the Lord Himself.

As we go about our daily lives, let us be intentional in letting our light shine. Encourage one another to engage in acts of service, compassion, and mercy, not to earn favor or accolades, but to reflect the heart of our Creator. In doing so, we not only glorify God but inspire others to join us on this path of goodness and light. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. Novena Day Three for Sam Knight prayers of healing. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Good Deeds Glorify Your Heavenly Father**

In a world where shadows often spread,

You are the salt, where hope is fed.

With flavor rich and purpose clear,

Preserve the truth, cast out the fear.

A pinch of grace in every deed,

Enhancing love, the heart’s true seed.

When seasons change and struggles loom,

You bring the light, dispelling gloom.

Let your light shine, a beacon bright,

On hills and cities, in day and night.

For no lamp is hid, nor gently placed,

But on a stand, its glow is embraced.

So, let your actions show the way,

Reflecting love in all you say.

That others may see, and thus believe,

In the greater good, love can achieve.

In every heart, let kindness dwell,

For in our living, we weave a spell.

As salt and light, we share the call,

To lift each other, to give our all.

So shine, dear friend, in all you do,

For the world is waiting, and we need you.

Rooted in faith, let your journey start,

A flavor of hope, a light for the heart. Amen.
