06-07-2026 1st Corinthians 10 V1617 We All Partake Of One Loaf

The 1st Letter to the Corinthians Chapter 10 Verse 16 thru 17

16 The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? 17 Because the loaf of bread is one, we, though many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf.

1 Corinthians 10:16-17 the Apostle Paul emphasizes the significance of the Eucharist, or Communion, as a shared experience among believers. The “cup of blessing” symbolizes the blood of Christ, signifying the new covenant and the sacrificial nature of Jesus’ death. By invoking the act of blessing the cup, Paul reminds the Corinthians that this ritual is not merely a tradition but an act of communion with Christ himself. This participation transcends mere remembrance; it means experiencing a profound connection with Jesus and his redemptive work.

Likewise, the “bread that we break” signifies the body of Christ. Paul highlights that through partaking of this bread, believers come together in a very real sense as the body of Christ. The act of breaking bread symbolizes unity and shared faith. Paul asserts that despite the diversity within the church community, all believers are united as one body through their participation in the same sacrificial elements.

These verses underscore a transformative aspect of the Eucharist. By consuming the bread and wine, believers not only acknowledge their individual relationship with Christ but also affirm their unity with one another. Paul challenges the Corinthian church, which was rife with division, to recognize that their participation in the Lord’s Supper should reflect their oneness in Christ. This call to unity challenges modern believers to reflect on the significance of communal worship and the shared faith that binds them together in the body of Christ.

Moreover, the theme of the unity of believers as one body echoes the collective identity of Israel. The Israelites were called to be a “holy nation” (Exodus 19:6), where shared customs and rituals, such as the Passover, fostered a sense of community and belonging. Just as the Israelites shared in the sacrificial lamb during Passover, Christians share in the body and blood of Christ through communion, reinforcing their unity in faith.

In essence, Paul’s assertion in 1 Corinthians connects the Old Testament’s sacrificial system and communal meals to the New Testament understanding of Christ’s sacrifice. This new covenant is not merely individualistic but invites believers into a profound community, emphasizing that participation in Christ’s body and blood transcends personal piety, creating a unified body of believers reflecting God’s redemptive work throughout history. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. 06-07-2026 1st Corinthians 10 V1617

**We All Partake Of One Loaf**

In the humble gathering, we partake,

Of bread and cup, for Christ’s own sake.

A communion so sacred, rich and profound,

In this act of unity, His love knows no bounds.

The bread we break, His body shared,

In each other’s hearts, our burdens bared.

One loaf, one spirit, in fellowship we stand,

As diverse as we are, we are joined by His hand.

The cup of blessing, poured with grace,

A reminder of sacrifice, our sins He’d erase.

In sipping from this chalice, we proclaim,

The life He gave, forever the same.

So let us remember, as we draw near,

The body, the blood, the love that is clear.

In this sacred moment, together we find

The essence of Christ, forever aligned. Amen.
