The 1st Letter of Peter Chapter 2 Verse One thru Twelve

1 Rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, insincerity, envy, and all slander; 2 like newborn infants, long for pure spiritual milk so that through it you may grow into salvation, 3 for you have tasted that the Lord is good. 4 Come to him, a living stone, rejected by human beings but chosen and precious in the sight of God, 5 and, like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For it says in scripture: “Behold, I am laying a stone in Zion, a cornerstone, chosen and precious, and whoever believes in it shall not be put to shame.” 7 Therefore, its value is for you who have faith, but for those without faith: “The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,” 8 and “A stone that will make people stumble, and a rock that will make them fall.” They stumble by disobeying the word, as is their destiny. 9 But you are “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may announce the praises” of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were “no people” but now you are God’s people; you “had not received mercy” but now you have received mercy. 11 Beloved, I urge you as aliens and sojourners to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against the soul. 12 Maintain good conduct among the Gentiles, so that if they speak of you as evildoers, they may observe your good works and glorify God on the day of visitation.

1 Peter 2:1-12 serves as a powerful reminder of the believer’s identity and calling in Christ. The Apostle Peter urges us to rid ourselves of malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander, encouraging a spiritual renewal akin to that of newborn infants craving pure spiritual milk. This foundational nourishment allows us to grow in our salvation, continuously reminding us of the cornerstone of our faith: the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In these verses, Peter speaks of Jesus as the living stone, rejected by men, yet chosen and precious in God’s sight. As believers, we are described as living stones, being built up into a spiritual house—a holy priesthood that offers spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus. This imagery highlights our vital connection to Christ and to one another within the community of faith. We are not merely isolated individuals but interwoven, sustained by our mutual faith in the risen Savior.

Peter poignantly reveals the distinction between the believer and the non-believer. For those who do not believe, Jesus is a stumbling block, but for us, He is the foundation of our faith and our hope. This distinction underscores a profound truth; we will indeed stumble if we do not believe in the resurrection of Christ and the salvation He offers. It is through unwavering faith in Him that we are empowered to live out our calling—to proclaim the excellencies of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.

As we reflect on these verses, let us remember that our faith in the risen Christ not only anchors our souls but also propels us to share His love and grace with others. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**A Stone That Will Make People Stumble**

Cast aside all malice, deceit, and pride,

As newborn babes in truth, let hope be our guide.

Yearning for pure milk that nourishes the soul,

In the embrace of the Father, we’ll learn to be whole.

A living stone, rejected but chosen, we stand,

In the temple of the Spirit, united and grand.

Built up as a people, a royal decree,

Proclaiming His praises, set ever so free.

From darkness to light, we have found our true call,

No longer in bondage, no longer to fall.

Strangers and pilgrims, we’re passing through,

Ambassadors of grace, our hearts ever true.

Submit to authority, for order is wise,

Reflecting His mercy, let our actions arise.

For in doing good, we silence the foe,

With love as our armor, His light we will show.

Though we may suffer, let hope be our song,

For in our endurance, we find we belong.

A chosen generation, His own special kin,

With hearts open wide, we’ll welcome Him in.

So let our lives shine, a beacon to all,

In the streets and the shadows, our Savior’s call.

Living stones together, in love we’ll abide,

For with Christ as our cornerstone, we’ll never subside. Amen.
