Wig’s Word of God Today 10-23-2011
You became imitators of us and of the LORD, receiving the Word in great affliction, with joy from the Holy Spirit, so that you became a model for all the believers. 1 Thessalonians 1:6-7
Exodus 22:20-26, Psalm 18, 1 Thessalonians 1:5-10 & Matthew 22:34-40
The earliest mention of faith, hope and love in any form of literature comes here from Paul in 1 Thessalonians and described by Biblical scholars as the three “theological virtues” gives thanksgiving yet insistence of the selfless love missionaries of Christ give. Selfless love comes from receiving the Word with “great affliction” and has the same impact today as in any time in our history of the world. You may find your hesitancy to talk casually about God’s love in your life be it with family, friends and co-workers or complete strangers, obvious, diffident and lacking confidence but your intimacy with God’s Word increases each day the ability to share His Truth at any time or anyplace. When you become confident in the LORD, you will begin responding to people with a God Bless you in greeting as well as in passing or during normal everyday activities of shopping, eating or hanging around the water cooler at work. You can become a model for the believers today as much as Paul was in his day.
I began talking to a man in the Salvation Army yesterday who said he got out of the Army in 1962. As I commented to him that was the year I was born, he spoke of accepting the LORD in 1953 one year before joining the Army when I said “God Bless you for serving” in response to his military service. “I believe we’ll see God’s wrath soon,” he commented taking my arm in a plea to do something about it. Taking his hand and carefully shaking it up and down I responded, “I agree that if we don’t get people praying and be obedient to God’s Word, we will see the wrath of God descend on the earth as in any other time God needed to clean up the world’s unrighteous. But we have to pray. Pray alone. Pray together. Pray in public. We’ve got to pray.” “I agree,” he commented with a smile. Our world of people who want and understand what it means to be God-fearing must seek prayer in great numbers by sharing your prayer yourself. Try and pray with people in public and be not afraid of the affliction your heart or soul may fear. Make people imitate and see your love of loving Christ Jesus. Amen.
So we ask in prayer: Dear God, we pray today to always be imitators of Your Son’s Truth anywhere, anytime and anyplace with anyone Your Will directs us to. We pray LORD we learn from any affliction we receive in publically displaying our love of Your Truth. We pray for the Women’s Emmaus at St. Louis Church in Pinecrest, Florida. We pray for this children of the world. We pray for Prayer Points to establish God’s favor on people of faith. We pray for Your strength LORD. Teach us to follow Your Will. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Christ’s People of His Father’s Love- 1 Thessalonians 1:5-10
You know how we are
People of faith
To serve His Truth
Prayers to relate
Your replication evident
Imitators who seek
The LORD of forgiveness
Great affliction made weak
The Word was hard
For Humanity to relate
In joy the Holy Spirit
Made you a model to imitate
Not in just one place or another
Every place His Word was shared
People began a revolution
Humanity boldly dared
To share the reception granted
In Heaven with Christ above
No wrath of God to worry
Christ’s People of His Father’s Love
