What do you loose on earth? “I will give you the Keys of the kingdom of Heaven: whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven; whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:19

What do you loose on earth?

You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Matthew 16:16b

I will give you the Keys of the kingdom of Heaven: whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven; whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Matthew 16:19

Acts 12:1-11, Psalm  34, Second Timothy 4:6-8, 17-18 & Matthew 16:13-19

After asking the Disciples who people think Jesus is, Jesus admits He is the Christ, the absolute Son of God, meaning He is both Messiah and Son of the Living God. Jesus’ response attributes the confession to a divine revelation granted to Peter alone and makes him the Rock on which Jesus will build His Church and the Disciple whose authority in the church on earth will be confirmed in heaven, i.e., by God. Here we find the reason Christ instilled all Power over the Church to Peter as the Foundation of “Christ’s Body” we still worship in today.

Peter has been handed the “Keys to Heaven” conferring upon him the intimate eternal connection between God, Heaven and himself allowing for the cherished details of Christ’s Church to be developed, maintained and celebrated each and every day by consuming Christ’s instituted “Host of Angels; His Body of Heaven and earth.” We celebrate this every day in the Mass allowing us to take part of the Heavenly Food of Christ’s Body, Soul and Divinity. He is the Only Way to Enter the Narrow Gate we long to see eternally, the Heaven we look to live in here on earth.

Ultimately, the Church established the joys Christ wanted us to celebrate here on earth to draw our faith, hope and love from. We are taught to practice by reading our Bible everyday. We are taught to pray unceasingly over everything we think, speak about or act upon. (I know, that’s a tough one.) Finally, we are taught to preach and proclaim with confidence allowing the Holy Spirit to direct our every word. Today, I will share the Nicene Creed, which is our profession of faith. The belief God’s Only Son was the Savior of the world allowing our sins to be forgiven. Do you believe?

“I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and earth,

of all things visible and invisible. I believe in One LORD Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, True God from True God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through Him all things were made. For us men and for our Salvation He came down from Heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake He was Crucified under Pontius Pilate, He suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the Right Hand of the Father. He will come again in Glory to judge the living and the dead and His kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the LORD, the Giver of Life, Who proceeds from the Father and the Son, Who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, Who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.”

In prayer we ask: Dear LORD, we pray today we can live up to Your Word to accomplish all for Your Glory. We pray for the miracles Your Word instills in our hearts to be Children of God. We pray for the NC Emmaus Team preparation. We pray for our children. We pray for knowledge to learn, we pray for Grace to help and we for pray for strength to proclaim. We pray for Juan Cruz, my 92-year-old father-in-law who I wrote the poem about below. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
