The hour his disciple gave Christ his due

25 Standing by the Cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. 26 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” 27 Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.28 After this, aware that everything was now finished, in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I thirst.” 29 There was a vessel filled with common wine. So they put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop and put it up to his mouth. 30 When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.” And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit. John 19:25-30

For those who believe it seems easy to understand why Jesus turned to his mother from the Cross and asked her to see the disciple as her own son. John would take Mother Mary in and pursue the opportunity to live for her son as a token of belief grasping the desire of mankind to know Life Eternal by the Salvation death of Christ alone. Fulfilling Scripture was on the mind of Christ obviously is he spoke His last words of thirsting allowing humanity to see that each and every foretelling of his life, death and Resurrection was foretold from the beginning of time.

His Spirit handed over Jesus laid his head to rest calling on the Father to finish the work he had come to live. Many a time we find this in our own lives unable to maintain that calling of God not willing to surrender completely because we think of obtaining more treasure by living the life of excess over the expressed need of caring for the least. Many of us fail to remember that Jesus, His Father and the Spirit so Holy was One giving humanity clear evidence of God coming to the world to show He cared for all. Amen.

Join us in our daily prayer of forgiveness. I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and Rose for me. IN Jesus Name. Amen.
