THE GOSPEL OF LUKE CHAPTER 18 15 THRU 17
18 An official asked him this question, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 19 Jesus answered him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. 20 You know the commandments, ‘You shall not commit adultery; you shall not kill; you shall not steal; you shall not bear false witness; honor your father and your mother.’” 21 And he replied, “All of these I have observed from my youth.”22 When Jesus heard this he said to him, “There is still one thing left for you: sell all that you have and distribute it to the poor, and you will have a treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” 23 But when he heard this he became quite sad, for he was very rich.

“Hurry dear,” the unknown rich man tells his wife as she pours his cup of the hot black tea steaming with anticipation of a death deemed destiny. The unnamed rich man continues his preparation stating, “they will crucify Jesus of Nazareth today early and I want to make sure I am there to watch him die while holding a cup of gold.” While sipping his murky tea, his mind wonders to the blackness of mortality frightfully wanting his soul to feel the shadows of death of another from disappointment yet instead witnessing forgiveness for those killing his body but not his soul.

This small expression of what Jesus’ experience with the man called rich competes with envy, greed and pride. His disappointments were misunderstood unable to comprehend the giving away of all his riches. I’ve done all that you have said and still you want me to sell all that I have? Some others probably think this each and every day wondering why we have so much stuff dusty and grey. I’m not sad in giving away the riches I am excitedly happy to follow him and give as He tells me for those in need in his time of Light Eternal. Amen.

Join us in our daily prayer of forgiveness. I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Prayer intentions. Silence for the prayers of others. #healRyan In Jesus Name. Amen. Precious Blood
