Renewed Covenant gains Your Cup of Fruits that Runneth Over.

The king then, standing on the dais, bound himself by the Covenant before Yahweh, to follow Yahweh, to keep His Commandments, Decrees and Laws with all his heart and soul, and to carry out the terms of the Covenant as written in this book. All the people pledged their allegiance to the Covenant. Second Kings 23:3

By their fruits you will know them. Matthew 7:16a

Second Kings 22:8-13; 23:1-3, Psalm 119 & Matthew 7:15-20

We all have to follow the laws of the land but when there comes a time that the law goes against our moral understanding of our Sacred beliefs, then we must come together to exult our accepted wisdom, actions and abilities to overcome the tyranny of secular oppression. King Josiah was just a young boy of eight-years -old when he was crowned king but his reign lasted thirty-one years in Jerusalem because it was recorded he walked in the ways of the LORD mimicking his father David. “He did what was right in the LORD’s sight, walking in the way of David his father, not turning right or left.” Second Kings 22:2

Many Biblical scholars believe the book found during the appointed tidying up of the House of the LORD ordered by King Josiah was probably an early edition of material now found in the Book of Deuteronomy. The “Book of the Law” described God’s Covenant essentially the Ten Commandments as instructed by God to Moses. The King “renewed” the Covenant of obeying the rules. It seems understandable but someone always has to break the rules to accomplish their selfish needs.

I can only imagine what God must be thinking now as His people run from one place to another seemingly racing across the earth to fulfill the most selfish desires of lust, greed and gluttony. How long will the LORD wait to launch His Wrath seems too many times to be an ignored question as we witness the destruction of moral responsibility, honorable living and honest love.

Jesus reminds us we are accountable by the fruit we have grown into and easily described as a sweet fruit or a rotten fruit to better the living of the Will of God. Over the years, I have heard different stories of people renewing or in many cases beginning their Covenant with the LORD. You can look back on their life and see such destruction of morals by a lifestyle filled with lust, greed and gluttony until one day they have a revelation that changes their life forever.

Yesterday as I talked with my father and his old friend, I recalled mine as I often do during the day of it being an Angelic moment in my life while my father’s friend was an Easter Morning Service in 1981. I was just 19 at the time and my father’s friend was almost 50. His surrender that day left booze, carousing and sin behind in an instant and as he described to me yesterday “his cup runneth over” sharing a witness that is filled with God’s Spirit of Truth. He has grown into a man of faith, hope and love because he accepted Jesus into his heart and has lived his life completely for him.

You can check out Ray Wood’s story as and embedded video in the movie “Courageous” called the “Story of My Father.” You can also take a look at the You Tube introduction here at http://youtu.be/v9D_WEFN2GA. Will you renew your Covenant with the LORD and live a life with a cup that “runneth over?” I pray we as Americans face up to this Truth soon. Amen.

In prayer we ask: Dear LORD, we pray today for a “renewal” of the Covenant You LORD instilled in our ancestors regains our lives of faith, hope and love. We pray today for the fire of Truth to keep our souls on fire for Your Glory. We pray for the NC Emmaus Team preparation. We pray for Ray Woods and his work to bring more souls to Your Kingdom. We pray for the health of a friend of my mom’s named Joanne. We pray for Ed Beck and the poem I wrote for him below. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

By Service we can learn to Forgive- in Tribute to Ed Beck

In the call to come

I accept no matter what

Maybe clean toilets to start

In Christ I’d clean with heart

Ashamed of a past I hate

I need full surrender to relate

Christ’s love my eternal fate

I do love God in faith

In days of anger and fear

I forgot Mass so dear

Ignoring my commitment in tears

Walls I crawled over to peer

We seek service to live

Christ’s Redemption to give

God never makes me relive

By service we can learn to forgive
