Picking up his paralyzation
THE GOSPEL OF LUKE CHAPTER 5 21 THRU 26
21 Then the scribes and Pharisees began to ask themselves, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who but God alone can forgive sins?” 22 Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them in reply, “What are you thinking in your hearts? 23 Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’? 24 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”-he said to the man who was paralyzed, “I say to you, rise, pick up your stretcher, and go home.” 25 He stood up immediately before them, picked up what he had been lying on, and went home, glorifying God. 26 Then astonishment seized them all and they glorified God, and, struck with awe, they said, “We have seen incredible things today.”
Too many times in today’s world were looking to be awestruck creating reactions that people will either hate or love that includes torture and death. We can’t seem to understand how to get past this need of fame. The Pharisees and scribes wanted this eminence they wanted to acclaim there Biblical account was everything to humanity actuating a plan of death unable to see they were creating and participating in redemption for humanity as told by their own accounts. Even after the Christ had rose witnessed by several hundred people including an account of a morning breakfast along the beach as Jesus allows us to understand what it means to live in salvation at ease.
Listen to Jesus talk about what is easier and what makes more sense as the Pharisees and scribes ponder the finger pointing at the considered blasphemer’s response. Witnesses were surely astonished as many of us become all struck with Christ tagging the tales of those making headlines who obviously are dancing with the devil. It’s tragic for us to see this ugliness that seems to resonate across our airwaves dancing off the cables dug in the dirt the victims are being buried in. Our hearts are saddened by this desire for one young human being to acquire and commit what we all hope we never have to defend ourselves from. Help us Lord understand humility in honor of You Lord not to be seeking such fame only seeking the honor of loving yourself as your neighbor where expectations are lived naturally without shame. Amen.
Join us in our daily prayer of forgiveness. I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and Rose for me. Prayer intentions. IN Jesus Name. Amen. Precious Blood
