Offer praise as your sacrifice to God; fulfill your vows to the Most High. Then call on Me on the day of distress; I will rescue you, and you shall honor Me. Psalm 50:14-15

Offer praise as your sacrifice to God; fulfill your vows to the Most High. Then call on Me on the day of distress; I will rescue you, and you shall honor Me. Psalm 50:14-15

1 Samuel 15:16-23, Psalm 50 & Mark 2:18-22

Yesterday I wrote that God wants obedience rather than sacrifice and today we continue this request from God in Psalm 50 as the Psalmist describes what is required of the faithful while rebuking the hypocritical worshiper as he concludes with a threat and a promise of how God will react to the faithful and the unfaithful.

Offer praise as your sacrifice to God; fulfill your vows to the Most High. Then call on Me on the day of distress; I will rescue you, and you shall honor Me. But to the wicked God says: “Why do you recite My Commandments and profess my covenant with your mouth? You hate discipline; you cast My words behind you!” Psalm 50:14-17

Now understand this, you who forget God, lest I start ripping apart and there be no rescuer. Those who offer praise as a sacrifice honor Me; I will let him whose way is steadfast look upon the Salvation of God.” Psalm 50:22-23

Twice a year a group of men place their obedience at the Foot of the Cross in conducting a retreat called the Walk to Emmaus. In less than 48 hours, as many as 50 men or more become aware of how ordinary men of faith praise and worship God in every aspect of their lives. The poem I share today is a rewrite of the original I wrote on Saturday and shared with the entire group.

The poem describes first the anger of losing Jesus as they walked to Emmaus, the bewilderment they felt when Jesus came along unnoticed teaching them why He had to suffer, and finally rejoicing of Christ’s Resurrection when He broke the bread and became known to them before vanishing. Many men today will have a fire burning inside just as the two Disciples did and they will know He has Risen Indeed. Amen.

We pray by God, His Son and His Spirit praise you LORD to live in Your Truth. We pray for the Team and Candidates of the Emmaus Retreat at St. Louis. Guide them LORD to live for Your Word. We pray for Pam Bishop. We pray for LIFE FM. I pray for my wife, children, family, and friends. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Romans 8:28

Spirit led God inspired Christ fed

On the Road to Emmaus Jesus Christ has Risen He has Risen Indeed Luke 24:13-25

Seven miles to Emmaus the men walked along

Two Disciples who watched a humanity’s ugly wrong

Why was the Christ killed by tormented Crucifixion?

As they conversed Jesus drew near without recognition

What are you talking about making you speak so downcast?

Cleopas asked was He the only one who didn’t know the past.

The sort of things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene

A Prophet Mighty in Deed and Word before God pristine

How our chief priests and rulers handed Him over to death

But we hoped He would Redeem all of Israel from the rest

Third Day women from our group found an empty tomb at best

Angels described to them He was alive overcoming the test

Then some of us went to the tomb to find He was indeed gone

As they said this the Man began to say how slow of heart we shone

That we should have believed what the Prophets had already spoke

The Messiah must suffer these things to find the glory they note

Then beginning with Moses and all the Prophets words

He described to them the Truth He must have lived and heard

Then they approached the village of which they already conferred

Stay for it is night and we’ll break bread to nourish and concur

So He went in to stay and reclined at table with them

As He broke the bread and said the blessing with a beautiful grin

Their eyes became open and the Christ was truly Him

He vanished from sight as their hearts burned from within

Saying to each other the feeling of Truth we felt as He spoke

Our hearts were glowing with His glory they began to note

As He opened the Scriptures from His heart to eternally boast

They returned to share the event with the Disciples He loved the most

As they entered the place of rest where the Disciples frightfully dwelt

They shouted the LORD has been raised by the Truth we just felt

Appearing to Simon on the Road to Emmaus describing our every need

Made known to us in breaking of the bread He had already planted a seed

On the Road to Emmaus Jesus Christ has Risen He Has Risen Indeed
