THE GOSPEL OF LUKE CHAPTER 24 44 THRU 49

44 He said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and in the prophets and psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures. 46 And he said to them, “Thus it is written that the Messiah would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day 47 and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 And [behold] I am sending the promise of my Father upon you; but stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”

One day you can see yourself holding a God’s hand comforted and experiencing the divine. Then you watch a good friend slowly say goodbye to his wife who had a brain tumor and cancer spread to other areas of her body. Understandably so he is sad yet rejoices in knowing his wife will be greeted by the Arms of Salvation. He seems to come and go because a human cannot understand supernatural qualities of the divine world until we become eternal members ourselves. Not so. Practice Pray Proclaim

Luke has brought us to the end of his gospel experiencing the resurrection, the ascension and the commands of our Lord to go out and preach why Jesus suffered and they in turn will comprehend the peace we all can have. We must remember while we feel God comes and goes, He is really a constant part of the life you are called to be one with another. We all seek to come to an understanding of a mystery that sometimes weakens our spirit because we always want to see miracles as proof. Then a friend’s wife dies. The miracle did not happen so we think but in love, faith and hope of redemption we too can understand the divine by practice, prayer and proclamation of his word. Try to remember to say you’re sorry often to those you love the most. I’m sorry. Amen.
