THE GOSPEL OF LUKE CHAPTER 9 23 THRU 27
23 Then he said to all, “If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. 25 What profit is there for one to gain the whole world yet lose or forfeit himself? 26 Whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. 27 Truly I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God.”
One can interpret what Christ means by giving it all daily and following him wondering if that describes us giving it all away or does it just simply mean helping daily as a Christian placing charity as the daily event. You can’t save your life until you lose it with Jesus for he will ask you to give your self unashamed of the words He lived freedom by when he was walked our amazing green earth. The witness part never stops engaging daily the practice of reading your Bible trying to understand the Mystery that blows you away for there are so many graces that come upon you when you stop your ney ney and begin to merge your second “P” and find yourself daily a place to pray seeking peace.
Shame comes from an embarrassment unwilling to share an episode, event or trauma associated like myself who has been living with shame for the past 36 years probably makes me an expert on an issue that no one likes to talk about let alone live. It’s the humiliation that we lead against Christ harboring ill feelings in the inability to say yes to soothe our experience as our songs agree that we listen to keep singing no. “I feel so right doing the wrong thing and I feel so wrong doing the right thing. I could lie. Everything that kills me makes me want to fly.” Salvation comes when you don’t deny learning to fly with Christ as your guide. Amen.
