THE GOSPEL OF LUKE CHAPTER 22 54 THRU 61

Click LOGO for full text of Spirit led podcast reflecting our life in Christ poetically translated from Scripture one line at a time.

54 After arresting him they led him away and took him into the house of the high priest; Peter was following at a distance. 55 They lit a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat around it, and Peter sat down with them. 56 When a maid saw him seated in the light, she looked intently at him and said, “This man too was with him.” 57 But he denied it saying, “Woman, I do not know him.” 58 A short while later someone else saw him and said, “You too are one of them”; but Peter answered, “My friend, I am not.” 59 About an hour later, still another insisted, “Assuredly, this man too was with him, for he also is a Galilean.”60 But Peter said, “My friend, I do not know what you are talking about.” Just as he was saying this, the cock crowed, 61and the Lord turned and looked at Peter; and Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, “Before the cock crows today, you will deny me three times.”

Three times denied we find Jesus giving humanity that undeniable chance of being forgiven and living eternally when we see his number one man aching denying complying with his foretold renunciation. Obviously, we do this each and every day denying our Lord in one way or another realizing along the way this thirst seems so quenchable allowing life to be forgiving buring the hatchet one might like to say. Amen.

Join us in our daily prayer of forgiveness. I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Prayer intentions. Silence for the prayers of others. In Jesus Name. Amen. Precious Blood

Priest high house took
Distance following Peter infested
Joining courtyard fire look

Light shone his face
Sight maid intently mute

Pointing assuredly insisted
Saying Peter no

Times three rejected
Crowing cock complied
Jesus turned dejected
Lord’s Word denied

Denied Times Three
Peter wasn’t free
Crowing cock commanded

Pericope pronounced “peri co pe’”
A pericope in rhetoric is a set of verses that forms one coherent unit or thought, suitable for public reading from a text, now usually of sacred scripture. Its importance is mainly felt in, but not limited to, narrative portions of Sacred Scripture.
