After three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions, and all who heard Him were astounded at His understanding and His answers. When His parents saw Him, they were astonished, and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been looking for You with great anxiety.” Luke 2: 46-48

Tobit 12:1-20, Psalm 23 & Luke 2:41-51

Why do we do what we do seems a viable question when it comes to following the Truth of Christ living in His Salvation. Today I awake in Marywood Retreat Center just off the beautiful North flowing St. John’s River near Jacksonville, Florida attending the Leadership Training for the Kairos Prison Ministry International. It is the same location that I attended my Cursillo over 21 years ago. Our training centered last night on why we do what we do in Kairos without any changes by our own desires discovering we are a sacrificial member of Kairos because we go in for the prisoners and not for our own agenda.

Many a time we attempt to place our own desires into something we are doing for God and express what they described as our “good intentions” but instead destroy the process God has put into place by prayer and grace asked for and received by past volunteers of founding members who like you and me wanted to serve the Will of God surrendered to the Truth of Jesus Christ. My poem today reflects the beginning journey last night of why we do what we do in Kairos learning it’s not about me but about them. The prisoners are the focus sharing the Truth bringing them closer to Christ as it is my hope to bring all who share in my Bible study daily the opportunity to be closer to Jesus Who is the reason why we do what we do as Disciples of His Truth. Amen.

We ask in prayer: Dear LORD, we pray today to do what we do for Your Son’s Salvation and not our own agenda of pride. Prayers for Dr. Cruz-Peluca. Greg Bishop has our constant prayers. Novena prayers day five for “Poppy Juan Cruz’s” “health. LORD from Psalm 125:4 I chant- “Do good, LORD, to the good, to those who are upright of heart.” In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

I am yours in Christ,

Kairos- Why we do what we do

Introductions begin our ride
Opening in prayer we must confide
Everything we learn we cannot hide
In Christ His Truth we forever rely

Stay away from the trap of good intentions
Way off course you’ll end to see
Change nothing to serve not serve you
Wrong reasons you’ll end up to be

Take me out and keep God in
Here to learn how to volunteer and win
Prisoners are the main thing to begin
Volunteers for Christ quipped to lend

How to follow the manual’s way
God inspired Spirit led to say
How many hams make a Kairos day?
Christ fed Truth to Eternally pray

Kairos began as a Cursillo tool
Building wisdom spirit void of drool
An instrument of God protected and True
In serving it’s why we do what we do

Kairos is God’s Special Time for prisoners not you
