The Acts of the Apostles Chapter 13 Verse 44 thru 52

44 On the following sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord. 45 When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and with violent abuse contradicted what Paul said. 46 Both Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, “It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first, but since you reject it and condemn yourselves as unworthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. 47 For so the Lord has commanded us, ‘I have made you a light to the Gentiles, that you may be an instrument of salvation to the ends of the earth.’” 48 The Gentiles were delighted when they heard this and glorified the word of the Lord. All who were destined for eternal life came to believe, 49 and the word of the Lord continued to spread through the whole region. 50 The Jews, however, incited the women of prominence who were worshipers and the leading men of the city, stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their territory. 51 So they shook the dust from their feet in protest against them and went to Iconium. 52 The disciples were filled with joy and the holy Spirit.

In Acts 13:44-52, we witness a significant moment in the early church as the gospel is boldly proclaimed to both Jews and Gentiles. The previous Sabbath, Paul and Barnabas had preached the message of salvation in Antioch, captivating the hearts of many. In verses 44-45, almost the whole city gathers to hear them, illustrating the profound hunger for the word of God.

However, a shift occurs when the Jewish leaders, filled with jealousy, oppose them. Yet, Paul and Barnabas respond with grace and fortitude, declaring, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but since you reject it and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.”

This passage serves as a powerful reminder that God’s plan of salvation extends to all people, transcending cultural and ethnic boundaries. Paul and Barnabas embody the calling of believers as instruments of salvation to the ends of the Earth. They exemplify the urgency to share the gospel, even amidst opposition, ensuring that no one is excluded from the joy of salvation and the promise of eternal life.

As followers of Christ, we are called to share this transformative message with everyone we encounter. Whether in our neighborhoods, workplaces, or social circles, we must embrace the responsibility to spread the good news. Let us not shy away from the challenges we may face but, like Paul and Barnabas, boldly testify to the grace of God and the hope found in Jesus Christ.

In doing so, we participate in the great commission, fulfilling our role in God’s beautiful story of redemption. May we be empowered by the Holy Spirit to reach out to every heart, knowing that salvation is offered to anyone and everyone. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. Ephesians 6:17-20

05-02-2026 Acts 13 v4452

**They Shook The Dust From Their Feet**

In the city where the fervor flows,

On the Sabbath day, where the spirit glows,

The people gathered, eager to hear,

The message of love that draws ever near.

The Word spread swiftly, like whispers on wind,

Jews and Gentiles, all hearts to rescind.

Yet envy arose in a shadowed heart,

As the faithful found their new hope impart.

Paul stood firm, with truth in his gaze,

Proclaiming the grace that sets all ablaze.

“Salvation is here for all who believe,

In this promise of hope, we shall never grieve.”

But the whispers grew loud, the crowd split in two,

Some embraced joy, some couldn’t construe.

With boldness, they turned to the nations around,

“Your hearts are the fields where the hope can be found.”

Shaken yet steadfast, they wiped off the dust,

For in rejection, they placed all their trust.

In the face of disdain, love’s banner they flew,

For the joy of the Lord made their hearts anew.

So they journeyed with courage, their purpose in sight,

From city to city, spreading truth’s light.

In the wake of their trials, joyfully they sang,

For in every dark shadow, the heavens still rang.

In Acts of the Apostles, their story unfolds,

A hymn for the ages, in verses retold.

From the pain of rejection to the joy of decree,

The faithful stand strong, proclaiming, “We’re free!” Amen.
