04-25-2026 Acts 9 v1022 Saul Began At Once To Proclaim The Name of Jesus

The Acts of the Apostles Chapter 9 Verse 10 thru 22

10 There was a disciple in Damascus named Ananias, and the Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” He answered, “Here I am, Lord.” 11 The Lord said to him, “Get up and go to the street called Straight and ask at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus named Saul. He is there praying, 12 and [in a vision] he has seen a man named Ananias come in and lay [his] hands on him, that he may regain his sight.” 13 But Ananias replied, “Lord, I have heard from many sources about this man, what evil things he has done to your holy ones in Jerusalem. 14 And here he has authority from the chief priests to imprison all who call upon your name.” 15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for this man is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before Gentiles, kings, and Israelites, 16 and I will show him what he will have to suffer for my name.” 17 So Ananias went and entered the house; laying his hands on him, he said, “Saul, my brother, the Lord has sent me, Jesus who appeared to you on the way by which you came, that you may regain your sight and be filled with the holy Spirit.” 18 Immediately things like scales fell from his eyes and he regained his sight. He got up and was baptized, 19 and when he had eaten, he recovered his strength. He stayed some days with the disciples in Damascus, 20 and he began at once to proclaim Jesus in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God. 21 All who heard him were astounded and said, “Is not this the man who in Jerusalem ravaged those who call upon this name, and came here expressly to take them back in chains to the chief priests?” 22 But Saul grew all the stronger and confounded [the] Jews who lived in Damascus, proving that this is the Messiah.

Acts 9:10-22 tells the transformative story of Saul of Tarsus, a formidable persecutor of Christians, whose life takes a radical turn following an encounter with the risen Christ. In this passage, we meet Ananias, a devout disciple in Damascus, who receives a vision instructing him to go to Saul, whom God has chosen as a vessel to spread the Gospel to the Gentiles. Despite his initial fears about Saul’s reputation, Ananias obeys and anoints Saul, restoring his sight and filling him with the Holy Spirit.

This encounter demonstrates the power of God’s grace to redeem even the most unlikely candidates. Saul, once an enemy of Jesus, is soon transformed into Paul, a bold proclaimer of the faith he once sought to destroy. As he begins to preach in the synagogues about Jesus, we witness the profound change that occurs when one surrenders to God’s will. Paul’s conversion illustrates that no one is beyond the reach of God’s mercy, showing that salvation is available to all who believe.

As we reflect on this significant passage, it’s emotional to remember that surrendering to Jesus brings about new life—eternal life. Just as Saul embraced his new identity in Christ, we too are called to recognize the gift of salvation available through faith. When we lay down our burdens and confess Jesus as Lord, we are not only redeemed but empowered to share His name with others.

Each of us is invited into this transformative relationship, where we can confidently proclaim the message of Christ, just as Paul did. Let’s take this step together, embracing the hope and life that comes from surrendering to Jesus. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Saul Began At Once To Proclaim The Name of Jesus**

In the city where shadows veil the light,

A humble disciple in prayer takes flight,

Ananias, guided by visions so clear,

Knows his purpose, though trembling with fear.

“Rise and go to the street called Straight,

To find Saul of Tarsus, a vessel of fate.

For he’s praying, and scales hide his sight,

A chosen one, destined to carry the light.”

Reluctant, Ananias recalls the man’s past,

How he persecuted, how he made hearts shatter and gasp.

“Lord, he’s a hunter; he brings chains and strife!”

But the voice reassures, “He is part of new life.”

So Ananias obeys, with faith as his guide,

He finds the blind seeker, broken and tried.

“Brother Saul,” he calls, as he lays on his hand,

“Jesus, who sent me, has a great plan.”

In that moment, a touch brings the sight,

The scales fall away, revealing the light.

Filled with the Spirit, renewed from within,

The once feared Saul is reborn again.

He rises, he eats, he is baptized anew,

A fire in his heart, with a mission so true.

Proclaiming the Gospel, he boldly transgresses,

Transformed by the grace that love always blesses.

In Damascus he speaks, confounding the wise,

The one who once hunted now shares the sunrise.

Acts of redemption, a tale to inspire,

From the depths of despair, to heights that require.

So hear this story, let it echo with grace,

Of Ananias, the brave, and Saul’s fervent embrace.

For in times of doubt, when courage seems thin,

God can transform even the greatest of sin. Amen.
