04-19-2026 1 Peter 1 v1721 Place Your Faith And Hope In God
The 1st Letter of Peter Chapter 1 Verse 17 thru 21
17 Now if you invoke as Father him who judges impartially according to each one’s works, conduct yourselves with reverence during the time of your sojourning, 18 realizing that you were ransomed from your futile conduct, handed on by your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold 19 but with the precious blood of Christ as of a spotless unblemished lamb. 20 He was known before the foundation of the world but revealed in the final time for you, 21 who through him believe in God who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.
1 Peter 1:17–21 ties ethical conduct directly to divine revelation and Christ’s redeeming work, inviting believers to live with reverent awe in a world that is not their true home. Peter addresses those who call on the Father, emphasizing that God “judges impartially according to each one’s deeds.” The summons to “conduct yourselves with fear during the time of your exile” reframes ordinary living as a response to God’s rightful authority. The fear here is not terror but reverent faithfulness—a posture of obedience that acknowledges accountability before a holy judge while living as strangers in a fallen world.
Verse 18 shifts from fear to gratitude, reminding the audience that they were bought “from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers.” The price was not material wealth—“not with perishable things such as silver or gold”—but something of infinite value: the precious blood of Christ, described as a lamb without blemish or spot. The imagery aligns with the Old Testament sacrificial system, presenting Jesus as the perfect, unblemished sacrifice who accomplishes reconciliation for sinners. This redemptive act overturns the emptiness of the old ways and provides a new liberation through blood that ransoms.
Verses 20–21 ground this redemptive act in eternity and purpose: Christ was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was revealed at the last times for believers. Through him, people come to faith in God, who raised Jesus from the dead and gave him glory. The outcome is twofold: faith and hope are directed toward God, not merely toward a cognitive assent, but toward a living trust grounded in the gospel’s historical reality—Christ’s resurrection and exaltation.
In summary, 1:17–21 links fear-filled, holy living to the successful, eternal plan of redemption. Believers are called to live honorably in exile, empowered by the blood of Christ and the resurrection, so that their faith and hope are fixed in the God who raises the dead and glorifies his Son. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

**The Walk To Emmaus**
On a road to Emmaus, two walked with despair,
Their hearts heavy-laden, with burdens to bear.
As they spoke of their grief, a stranger drew near,
Unseen but beside them, in silence he’d hear.
“Why are your faces so clouded and pale?
What’s the weight on your hearts? What tale do you tell?”
They shared of His trial, the one they held dear,
The hope of redemption now shrouded in fear.
“Foolish and slow, was it not meant to be?
That the Christ would suffer, and through pain be free?”
With scriptures unfolding, He opened their eyes,
A tapestry woven, in truths from their cries.
As they journeyed together, it neared the day’s close,
They begged Him to stay; a kindness, they chose.
In the breaking of bread, their hearts leapt with flame,
For in this small moment, they recognized His Name.
“Were not our hearts burning, as He spoke on the way?”
They rushed back to share the good news of the day.
In the midst of our sorrow, our doubts, and our fears,
He walks ever near us, our Savior who hears.
So let us remember, when shadows descend,
In the quiet and chaos, He is always a friend.
For on every road traveled, through joy and through pain,
We too, like the travelers, find hope that remains. Amen.
