The Acts of the Apostles Chapter 4 Verse 13 thru 22

13 Observing the boldness of Peter and John and perceiving them to be uneducated, ordinary men, they were amazed, and they recognized them as the companions of Jesus. 14 Then when they saw the man who had been cured standing there with them, they could say nothing in reply. 15 So they ordered them to leave the Sanhedrin, and conferred with one another, saying, 16 “What are we to do with these men? Everyone living in Jerusalem knows that a remarkable sign was done through them, and we cannot deny it. 17 But so that it may not be spread any further among the people, let us give them a stern warning never again to speak to anyone in this name.” 18 So they called them back and ordered them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. 19 Peter and John, however, said to them in reply, “Whether it is right in the sight of God for us to obey you rather than God, you be the judges. 20 It is impossible for us not to speak about what we have seen and heard.” 21 After threatening them further, they released them, finding no way to punish them, on account of the people who were all praising God for what had happened. 22 For the man on whom this sign of healing had been done was over forty years old.

Acts 4:13-22 recounts a pivotal moment in the early Church, where Peter and John stand boldly before the Sanhedrin, the Jewish ruling council. Despite their lack of formal education, the courage and conviction of these apostles astonish the council members. The passage highlights a critical assertion: the power of faith in Jesus Christ transcends societal norms and expectations.

The religious leaders, recognizing the boldness of Peter and John, are confounded by their powerful testimony, marked by the miraculous healing of a man who had been lame from birth. Despite the evidence of this miracle, the council attempts to silence the apostles, demanding that they cease preaching in Jesus’ name. The response from Peter and John is resolute: “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge, for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.” This statement encapsulates the essence of Christian obedience—it prioritizes divine command over human authority.

In a world increasingly filled with voices urging conformity to secular ideals and values, the lessons from Acts 4:13-22 resonate powerfully. Followers of Christ are called to weigh their decisions against God’s Word rather than the shifting opinions of society. While there may be consequences for standing firm in faith, believers are reminded that obedience to God is paramount.

As we reflect on this passage, let us reaffirm our commitment to obey God above all else, knowing that true freedom and impact come from a bold witness to His truth. Like Peter and John, may we carry the message of Christ with unwavering resolve, trusting that God will empower us to stand firm, regardless of earthly pressures. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Finding No Way To Punish Them**

In the heart of Jerusalem, boldness arose,

From the lips of the humble, where courage bestows,

Peter and John, in the temple they stood,

Witnesses speaking of Christ, as they should.

The council convened, the leaders perplexed,

For they saw the unlearned, yet wisdom the best.

“How can they speak with such strength and such grace?

It’s clear they’ve been with Him, the One we can’t face.”

Their hearts filled with envy, their minds sought to bind,

To silence the message that stirred in their kind.

But the name of the Savior, they could not suppress,

For miracles flowed, despite their duress.

“Shall we heed your commands? Or follow God’s call?

Judge for yourselves; the truth stands for all.

For we cannot but speak of what we have seen,

Of the hope and the light, that’s forever pristine.”

With threats they conferred, but the truth they could tell,

Peter and John, a bold spirit they couldn’t quell.

“We’ll go and proclaim, though the world may miss,

For the love of our Savior, we simply can’t resist.”

So onward they went, unshaken, unchained,

For in their hearts burned a fire uncontained.

Acts of the Apostles, a tale to ignite,

That faith in the Savior brings courage and might.

In the silent resolve, let your voice never wait,

For boldly proclaiming is never too late.

In the face of oppression, in shadow or light,

Stand firm in the truth, let your spirit take flight. Amen.
