The Acts of the Apostles Chapter 3 Verse 11 thru 26
11 As he clung to Peter and John, all the people hurried in amazement toward them in the portico called “Solomon’s Portico.” 12 When Peter saw this, he addressed the people, “You Israelites, why are you amazed at this, and why do you look so intently at us as if we had made him walk by our own power or piety? 13 The God of Abraham, [the God] of Isaac, and [the God] of Jacob, the God of our ancestors, has glorified his servant Jesus whom you handed over and denied in Pilate’s presence, when he had decided to release him. 14 You denied the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. 15 The author of life you put to death, but God raised him from the dead; of this we are witnesses. 16 And by faith in his name, this man, whom you see and know, his name has made strong, and the faith that comes through it has given him this perfect health, in the presence of all of you. 17 Now I know, brothers, that you acted out of ignorance, just as your leaders did; 18 but God has thus brought to fulfillment what he had announced beforehand through the mouth of all the prophets, that his Messiah would suffer. 19 Repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be wiped away, 20 and that the Lord may grant you times of refreshment and send you the Messiah already appointed for you, Jesus, 21 whom heaven must receive until the times of universal restoration of which God spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from of old. 22 For Moses said: ‘A prophet like me will the Lord, your God, raise up for you from among your own kinsmen; to him you shall listen in all that he may say to you. 23 Everyone who does not listen to that prophet will be cut off from the people.’ 24 Moreover, all the prophets who spoke, from Samuel and those afterwards, also announced these days. 25 You are the children of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your ancestors when he said to Abraham, ‘In your offspring all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’ 26 For you first, God raised up his servant and sent him to bless you by turning each of you from your evil ways.”
Acts 3:11-26 recounts a pivotal moment in the early Christian church following the miraculous healing of a beggar at the Temple gate. After the healing, which captured the attention of the crowd, Peter seizes the opportunity to proclaim the message of Jesus Christ. This passage emphasizes the themes of redemption, repentance, and the fulfillment of prophecy.
In verses 11-12, Peter, seeing the astonished crowd, addresses them directly, emphasizing that the healing was not by their own power but by the name of Jesus Christ. He swiftly redirects the awe of the people away from the apostles and towards Jesus, highlighting the miraculous nature of the event as a testament to the power of God. This moment serves not only to authenticate the apostles’ authority but also to illustrate the belief in the continuing work of Jesus through them.
Peter’s sermon continues in verses 13-15, where he reminds the crowd of their role in Jesus’ crucifixion, pointing out that they denied the Holy One and asked for a murderer, Barabbas, to be released instead. This confrontation is designed to provoke a sense of guilt and lead them towards repentance. In verses 19-20, Peter calls for the crowd to “repent and turn back,” so that their sins may be wiped away and times of refreshing may come, highlighting the promise of redemption and restoration for those who believe.
The latter verses (21-26) reinforce the notion that Jesus is the fulfillment of God’s promises to Israel, as foretold by the prophets. Peter stresses the importance of listening to Jesus and accepting Him, underscoring that through Him, all nations will be blessed. This passage exemplifies the early church’s mission: to spread the message of Jesus while calling for repentance and faith, laying the foundations for the growth of the Christian community. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Ephesians 6:17-20
04-09-2026 Acts 3 v1126
**Families Of The Earth Shall Be Blessed**
In the temple, by the gate so bright,
A man lay at the hour of prayer,
His life in shadows, longing for light,
While crowds would pass, he found despair.
But Peter and John, with hearts ablaze,
Saw him and spoke with a voice of grace,
“Look at us, friend, let your heart raise,
In the name of Jesus, rise from this place.”
With faith ignited, the man’s feet stirred,
Strength flowed through him, as if by command,
In awe of the miracle, the crowd concurred,
“Is this the one who lay in the sand?”
They gathered round, in wonder and fear,
And Peter, with wisdom, began to explain,
“It’s not by our power, this miracle clear,
But by Jesus’ name, who bore all our pain.”
“You killed the Author of life, it’s true,
Yet God raised Him from the dead, you see,
Now repent and turn, a promise for you,
Forgiveness in His name, so all may be free.”
He spoke of the prophets who foretold the way,
Of the suffering servant, the chosen one,
To bring back the lost, to mend and to sway,
In His love and mercy, we all can be won.
So take this message, let your hearts burn bright,
For in Jesus, there’s hope that will never fade,
From darkness to light, through His wondrous might,
In His grace, your spirits anew shall cascade. Amen.
