04-07-2026 Acts 2 v3641 Receive The Gift Of The Holy Spirit

The Acts of the Apostles Chapter 2 Verse 36 thru 41

36 “Therefore let the whole house of Israel know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Messiah, this Jesus whom you crucified.” 37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and they asked Peter and the other apostles, “What are we to do, my brothers?” 38 Peter [said] to them, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is made to you and to your children and to all those far off, whomever the Lord our God will call.” 40 He testified with many other arguments, and was exhorting them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand persons were added that day.

Acts 2:36-41 provides a powerful account of the early church’s pivotal moment following the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. In this passage, Peter boldly declares to the crowd that Jesus, whom they crucified, is both Lord and Messiah. His proclamation pierces the hearts of those who hear it, prompting them to ask what they must do to be saved. Peter responds with a call to action: “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

This message underscores the essential steps to salvation—repentance and baptism. Repentance is a heartfelt turning away from sin and turning toward God, recognizing our need for His forgiveness. Baptism, performed in the name of Jesus, symbolizes this new life in Christ, affirming our commitment to follow Him. When we take these steps, we’re not just making a one-time decision; we’re entering into a transformative relationship with God.

The promise of receiving the Holy Spirit following our baptism is profoundly significant. This gift empowers us, guiding us in our new understanding and equipping us to fulfill God’s will. The Holy Spirit becomes our helper, teaching us, convicting us, and leading us into all truth. As we walk in faith, we find clarity and strength to navigate life’s challenges, making decisions aligned with God’s purpose. We call it placing God First.

In conclusion, Acts 2:36-41 serves as a reminder of the transformative power of repentance and baptism in the life of a believer. By embracing these steps, we not only find forgiveness but also receive the Holy Spirit, empowering us to live out God’s will daily. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Receive The Gift Of The Holy Spirit**

In a moment divine, as the Spirit embraced,

Peter stood boldly, the truth interlaced.

“Let all Israel know, hear these words loud,

Jesus, whom you crucified, is the Lord of the crowd.”

With fervent conviction, he spoke of the One,

Raised up from the grave, God’s will had been done.

“Repent and be baptized, turn from the night,

Receive the forgiveness, step into the light.”

Three thousand hearts stirred, with questions in mind,

“What shall we do?” to be salvation aligned.

In the waters of grace, they joyfully plunged,

Their burdens now lifted; to faith they had clung.

The promise extended, for all near and far,

For every generation, it shines like a star.

The gift of the Spirit, a comfort, a friend,

In unity gathered, their praise would not end.

So let us remember, as we walk without wrath,

The call to witness, to share love’s true path.

For in Acts, we find not just stories of old,

But a living inheritance, a truth to behold. Amen.
