Him test His heavenly grace
Gospel of Mark Ch 8 v- 11 thru 13
11 The Pharisees came forward and began to argue with him, seeking from him a sign from heaven to test him. 12 He sighed from the depth of his spirit and said, “Why does this generation seek a sign? Amen, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.” 13 Then he left them, got into the boat again, and went off to the other shore.
I am learning about the Jewish faith trying to understand the practices my two grandsons follow and the activities they accomplish in the Name of the One and Only God. Yom Kippur is a yearly day of atonement that marks the end of the Jewish high holy day offering a chance for people to change their fate through prayer, repentance, and charity. This will be a day that I will pray for the repentance of my daughter’s actions by implementing a course of charity to our grandson’s school by participating in fundraisers that help the school and its afterschool programs. Please pray for peace and purpose of finding compassion, forgiveness and resolve for us to live in God’s purpose. Here we learn why Yom Kippur was established to overcome the guilt of worshipping a golden calf in Moses’ absence.
The Jewish Community calls it the holiest day of the Jewish year, Yom Kippur which means “day of atonement.” It is said that tradition has it that the holiday originated with the prophet Moses. After God gave Moses the Ten Commandments atop Mount Sinai, Moses returned to the Israelites. During his prolonged absence, the community began worshiping a golden calf that is considered a false idol. In anger, he then smashed the commandments and implemented prayer by heading back up the mountain to pray for God’s forgiveness for himself and his people. Moses ultimately returned with a second set of the Ten Commandments but more importantly God’s forgiveness for Israel. Please help me pray for my family to experience this forgiveness caused by trauma unknown lived out in the years following my naval enlistment. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty we pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. Silence for the prayers of others dealing with the war in Ukraine. In the Holy Spirit we pray our brothers in Kairos especially a prayer for our men in blue. Day 12We pray for our niece Brittany who is a mother of four and 33 years old who has brain cancer stage three. We pray for Holy Mother Church. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.
