Letter to the Gospel of Mark Ch 1 v- 16 thru 20
16 As he passed by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting their nets into the sea; they were fishermen. 17 Jesus said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 18 Then they abandoned their nets and followed him. 19 He walked along a little farther and saw James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They too were in a boat mending their nets. 20 Then he called them. So they left their father Zebedee in the boat along with the hired men and followed him.
I used to have a shirt with a big red Christian Fish on the front and on the back it read, “Follow Me I Will Make You Fisher of Men.” So, what is a Fisher of Men? Did Jesus get it wrong by not including women initially in this group of poor souls who were the least of the least the poor of the poor. Ultimately Jesus gave every soul the opportunity to follow Him by simply saying, “Woman please give me a drink.” Why didn’t he ask the leaders? Because He knew they would not take kindly to changing their way of life but the Disciples were ready to be led by the Messiah who would transform the world by the ones He chose to lead. One would deny Him. Others would flee when they couldn’t understand how He would offer His Body and Blood as the nutrition that would lead them by the Spirit. But yet He forgave them all. Here, we find the ability to boldly speak and to recognize Jesus in everything we do. The standard definition of being fishers of men is to live the gospel allowing your soul to follow Jesus wherever his will leads you to go be it in the gutter to show His forgiveness or the world of confused souls who will always need your guidance even when they don’t think so give the opinion of Jesus where love is completely sowed allowing for indifference to be overcome with Truth of faith to show why you believe in His hope as the only way to go as a natural order to survive living Redeemed in His Big show. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty we pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. Silence for the prayers of others. In the Holy Spirit we pray brothers in Kairos the men in blue especially a prayer for Howard Richmond. We pray for Holy Mother Church. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.
