Follow always at a close distance
The Gospel of John 21 20 thru 23
20 Peter turned and saw the disciple following whom Jesus loved, the one who had also reclined upon his chest during the supper and had said, “Master, who is the one who will betray you?” 21 When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about him? 22 Jesus said to him, “What if I want him to remain until I come? What concern is it of yours? You follow me.” 23 So the word spread among the brothers that that disciple would not die. But Jesus had not told him that he would not die, just “What if I want him to remain until I come? [What concern is it of yours?]”
Peter knew his love for this disciple who was never mentioned by name but described as the “One Jesus loved.” We all know it was John but the writer (John) keeps himself a mystery by focusing not on the me but that of the words of Jesus to see Salvation as the reason he loved Jesus so and found favor by the tenderness John instilled for all to witness and believe. Hmmm, seemingly a true example of what we should follow in loving Jesus but the Way of the Cross where mom finds eternal protection and lives to be forever remembered as the Mother of God. May we live as this example giving what John was remembered by to be the “One Jesus loved” as you in living God First. Amen.

Chest recliner at supper remembered
You betray who Master he delivered
Jesus asked by Peter Him what Lord self-centered
Him remain My disdain Jesus persistent
Your concern is what
Me Follow always at a close distance
Spreading the word of what’s up
Die not wasn’t told
Remain him was so
Concern yours what sold
John yo disciple yo
