The Gospel of John 21 15 thru 19
15 When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” 16 He then said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” [Jesus] said to him, “Feed my sheep. 18 Amen, amen, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to dress yourself and go where you wanted; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19 He said this signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. And when he had said this, he said to him, “Follow me.”
The Gospel of John reported what Peter would expect what Jesus did in directing him to bring his love to a hand-held execution knowing he will be led and directed to find his love perfected for Jesus by laying his life down for the many to see the realization of Christ’s truth not only what he experienced first-hand with Jesus performing miracles and living the life of discipleship but as importantly Jesus own instructions to Peter to build His Church on earth no matter the cost to his own personal situations but ready to surrender all to the Glory of God where 2000 years later we find his Teacher is with us because of his tending the sheep an feeding them the Body of Jesus! Amen.
Join us in our daily prayer of forgiveness. I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Prayers for our children Gabriel, Julian, Alexandra, Jeffrey and Allen and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. Prayers for Dr. Cruz-Peluca. Silence for the prayers of others. Breakfast was finished no hocus-pocus
Jesus saying John’s son Me love you do
Peter replied Do know surely you
These must be fed lambs Mine feed
Times two Jesus asked
Jesus saying John’s son Me love you do
Peter replied Lord yes do know surely you
Sheep Mine tend
Jesus said allowed
Times three he would send
The same request the same vow
Distressing Peter times three asked by He
What did Jesus see
Everything know you Peter replied
Me love you known by you my deepest confide
Sheep Mine Feed He adamantly retorted
Double amen growing old discussion reported
Yourself dress young an obvious concession thwarted
Hands outstretched dressed you old grow transported
Not going where wanted
Directed and shunted
God glorifying death signified expected
Me Follow directions confronted
