Do you lust day-after-day in spiritual nothingness? “I will follow you, LORD, but first let me say farewell to my family at home. [To him] Jesus said, “No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the Kingdom of God.” Luke 9:61-62

Do you lust day-after-day in spiritual nothingness?

I will follow you, LORD, but first let me say farewell to my family at home. [To him] Jesus said, “No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the Kingdom of God.” Luke 9:61-62

Job 9:1-12, 14-16, Psalm 88 & Luke 9:57-62

Jesus explains to us today that being a Disciple is a tough job that requires denial of even family and friends to live for the Glory of God Himself. We cannot be distracted by day-to-day musings to live in a total surrender to God’s Purpose for our lives. We all know how difficult this can be but as Jesus reminds us, “No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the Kingdom of God.” I think it’s obvious that claiming Christ as your LORD and Savior eliminates the need to look back at the life you led prior to finding the Truth in your life.

You begin to see and live spiritually allowing people to be drawn to you instilling in them the Salvation Christ offers the world by His Death on a Cross. A Cross you must pick up and display proudly as a banner of Truth. People will be afraid of Christ’s Cross parting families, friends and coworkers aligning with the statement, “Let the dead bury the dead.” When you look back at a life of selfishness and sin, you will see the spiritually dead burying the ones like them who do not follow the Truth of Christ in their heart. They are worried they’ll miss out on something they lust for day-after-day in spiritual nothingness. Amen.

Let us pray: Dear LORD, we pray today to look forward as true Disciples not looking over our shoulder in want or despair. I pray for a Happy Birthday to my daughter Dr. Alexandra Maria Wiggins Stern. LORD, we pray today for sick and dying. We pray for our friends and enemies. We pray people choose You over stature or sin. We pray for strength, patience and health to fast in Your Will LORD. Give us Your strong arm of love forever. Jesus Christ is Risen! We pray in His Precious Name indeed. Amen.

Looking back voids your Kingdom turn– Luke 9:57-62

Jesus heard a man say

I’ll follow you each day

Foxes have dens to pray

Son of Man has nowhere to lay

Jesus said follow Me

First I have to bury my family

Let the dead bury the dead mindfully

For the spiritually dead is wastefully

Proclaim the Kingdom of God to tell

As one yells out I must say farewell

The plow of surrender can’t be returned

Looking back voids your Kingdom turn
