Today I was honored to have my wife Toni come along where the Congress Walking Cruz-Wiggins Petition Drive began at Mile marker 60 in Grassy Key. This area of the Overseas Highway has very little in the way of homes or populations but once we moved over a bridge or two we came upon Duck Key. Funny thing was I never saw any ducks but I did talk to a resident who offered me a glass of ice water (carrying a 15 foot flag pole can sure make you sweat) where he and his son signed a petition for me as well. His son has taught school before and as he went to get me a glass of ice water his father and I spoke about the Freedoms the Tea Party are trying to make sure our nation’s president doesn’t forget. President Bush once said, “History moves towards Freedom because the desire for Freedom is written in every human heart.” Please share with me any comments about this subject so I may reflect on them with my family and friends.
Our next stop was the town of Layton on Long Key where I walked along US 1 waving and stopping every now-and-then to wave at passers by. Toni was able to secure a few petitions there as well as she talked to neighbors in a store/gas station as I stood out front waving to the cars. I walked the entire US 1 strip of Layton ending up at Layton Baptist Church along the Atlantic side in the rear of the town. As I walked towards the church, a little old lady driving a car approached and talked to me a moment or two stating, “I can tell you believe in what you are doing if you’re willing to walk in this heat with that big flag pole.” “Yes ma’am,” I replied. “My country means that much to me.” She agreed to sign a petition as well and her and Toni spent a moment together chatting. Layton’s a beautiful little town nestled in the thick of Long Key where residents and tourist alike are warm and friendly. A place I wouldn’t mind calling home.
Next we were on to the Key of Islamorada where they call it the Village of Islands. There are not a lot of homes or populations here but they do have Robbie’s of Islamorada billed as offering the widest diversity of recreational marine activities in Islamorada, Florida Keys. My wife and I had lunch at the Hungry Tarpon enjoying a homemade lobster bisque prepared fresh daily by Chef Steve who made my mouth water as he prepared a favorite at the restaurant of fish tacos. Yummy! They looked so good. I’m making sure I have some of that next time. Once we finished eating, we walked out onto the dock and spoke to Mark and Jason who operate the Tarpon Feeding docks. I’ve never seen so many HUGE Tarpon in one place. People everywhere were enjoying themselves right here in our own backyard. Take some time to visit Robbie’s and tell Mark when you feed the Tarpons and Chef Steve when you have a fish taco that your next Congressional Leader from District 18 Thomas Joe Cruz-Wiggins sent you.
As I close my BLOG for day five, I am filled with goose bumps as I write about the people of everyday life where here in our own backyard in our beautiful Florida Keys that provide such an awesome experience for local residents and travelers alike. They are warm and friendly willing to go out of their way to make you feel right at home. It is such a shame our own congressional leaders haven’t in the past or presently taken the time to accomplish their own petition drive visiting these beautiful places we call home to reassure the voters of their desire to accomplish the Will of the People.
I don’t recall even one using their own time and resources to accomplish what I feel as a mandatory act to run for Federal Office. Instead, they pay $10,500.00 to go on the ballot and spend millions brainwashing the working class. In 2012 I’m going to change this by hard work and determination to work for Truth. I pray you’ll support my efforts to bring back good morals and a common man to Washington to accomplish the Will of the People.
Remember my fellow residents of South Florida, We the People are in charge of who represents us and we will hold them accountable for their disconnect of us common folk. Remember: Career Politicians hurt our countries ability to maintain vital new ideas of fresh new faces in Washington. VOTE out career politicians! My Congress Walk for Truth resumes Monday at Mile marker 77 as I take a day off for the LORD Sunday. God Bless His Truth for America. TJCW
