The Gospel of John 13 36 thru 38
36 Simon Peter said to him, “Master, where are you going?” Jesus answered [him], “Where I am going, you cannot follow me now, though you will follow later.” 37 Peter said to him, “Master, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.” 38 Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me? Amen, amen, I say to you, the cock will not crow before you deny me three times.”
Funny thing is Jesus will allow you to deny him and I’m sure you can look back on your life and find more than three as the number of denial instances. We deny him every single day when we walk past someone in need and don’t take the time to pray. What we don’t seem to understand is prayer can be silent but aloud makes more of an impression for Christ where denial was something in the past now has become a delight. To lay your life down for another is the most noble cause for this individualistic surrender comes when you realize there’s no longer a pause but a desire to instantaneously get involved signaling there’s no longer a denial we consider at all. You will deny him but remember this Jesus will never deny you the ability to say I’m sorry and be forgiven as bliss. Amen.
