Congress Walking Cruz-Wiggins Petition Drive began yesterday a little later than normal because I learned I had to take some classes before beginning the new school year in August. Now my days will be filled with an online curriculum to further my teacher certification. Actually last night was the first night that I had to play catch up for I had started a class a day late and was unable to update my campaign blog.

I began my walk yesterday at approximately 1:30 PM from Rex’s Tires and Brakes Auto Service of Homestead, Florida. I have been going to these people for some time and completely trust them with my automobile needs. Yesterday they put on new front and rear brake pads and took some time to sign a petition for me. Don and his son Chris manage the place extremely well and have the best service in town I do believe. If you’re looking for tires, new brakes or any other automobile service, please give them a call at 305-245-0492.
From this point on I have lost my driver Aaron who would drive ahead of me by a mile and rehydrate me with water and continue on to the next mile to keep us always moving forward. Since he has left for a summer vacation, I will be starting my walk each day in different locations walking north against the traffic about three or four miles to turn around and head back south against the traffic to walk to my car’s location. God Bless you Aaron. Thanks for all your help.

Walking through Homestead yesterday, I was able to take some pictures of some of the local sites I had never seen up close before. One of them is the Air Force jet that sits at the entrance of the city going south on US 1. I also stopped and prayed at a local traffic Memorial sign for a young man who was killed in December 2010. I also took a picture of the Rotary club meets sign that I have never noticed before detailing when there monthly meeting is.

Last night my wife and I had dinner with one of my students who lives here in my neighborhood and jsut graduated from my class moving on to the fourth grade. His name is Dallas and his grandmother Nina cooked up a great Italian meal of beef and tomatoe sauce that went well with collard greens cooked in garlic, butter and olive oil. She’s a great cook and Dallas was eager to show he leaned how to whisatle with his hands as I do a lot on the playground at school. Thanks Nina for the great meal and Dallasis – WAY TO GO moving on to fourth grade you hand whisltiling kid you. 🙂

This Friday I expect to be at the old Cutler Road and SW. 216th St. at 10 AM and I will be meeting up with many of my students from my class and their parents to walk a mile or two with me this Friday morning. If you would like to join us, there is a park to leave your car at close to the corner and we will begin to walk north on old Cutler Road for approximately 1 1/2 miles to turn around and walk south back to our original location. If you would like further information about this, please give me a call at 305-910-1347.
Thanks for your continued support and may God Bless America. TJCW
