Congress Walking Cruz-Wiggins Petition Drive has made its way out of the Florida Keys and into Florida City marching for Truth towards Homestead. Today I was greeted by one of my students and her mother, Lulu and Paulina Rodriguez. Such a warm surprise! They both came to wish me well and walk a mile or two but I was delayed from being there at 9 AM because I was interviewed by the News Leader of Homestead so they took a rain check for another day.
The News Leader piece should be out on Friday and is the third interview I have conducted in 11 days of walking. My Congress Walk for Truth will continue until we reach North Miami Beach sometime in July around Friday the 22nd to be exact. If I haven’t made it by then, my 12-year-old son, Jeffrey, might be a partner in shorts as we finish the summer walking for Truth together. Don’t worry Jeff, I’ve got some other plans for your summer visit too.
I’ll be asking some of my parents of Room 108 to make plans to bring their child and walk with me when I reach Old Cutler and 216th Street by Friday of this week. Miss Lulu, if you could please send an email out to all the moms and dads of Room 108 asking them to follow the BLOG very closely so we can take a moment to let the kids experience a little walking with their teacher along Old Cutler this Friday say around 9:30 AM. We hope to see you all there! Give us a honk or a thumbs up sign as many a person continues to do while I walk my way to Congress.

Finally, I spent some time at Miami Dade College today registering for a class in the Fall and I was talking to two girls who have been friends for “like” three years. I asked them what they thought of when they heard the word, “politician.” I think we all know the majority of the people will answer with “a liar” as they did but why? I want the kids I teach to look at their nation’s government as people of honor and faith who seek not the pleasures of self but rather the joy of being an American who seeks to tell the Truth for a better tomorrow.
Let us not be ashamed to face the problems our country needs to address together in Truth without covering anything up only to be a problem later on. We need to get in the habit of telling the Truth about everything. People will say, “tell us the Truth.” And they’ll get the Truth if they like it or not. Our government of the people deserve no less. And with me they’ll get every ounce of it. The Truth will set us free. Don’t you believe it? Thanks for the notes of confidence and a personal shout out to my friends in Gainesville cheering me on through Face Book. Keep them coming and may we always be “One Nation Under God.” TJCW
