Claim of the scribes
Gospel of Mark Ch 12 v- 35 thru 37
35 As Jesus was teaching in the temple area he said, “How do the scribes claim that the Messiah is the son of David? 36 David himself, inspired by the holy Spirit, said: ‘The Lord said to my lord, “Sit at my right hand until I place your enemies under your feet.”’ 37 David himself calls him ‘lord’; so how is he his son?” [The] great crowd heard this with delight.
The USCCB Bible’s notes describes why “Jesus questions the claim of the scribes about the Davidic descent of the Messiah, not to deny it (Mt 1:1-2 states, “20 The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the coming of the great and splendid day of the Lord, 21 and it shall be that everyone shall be saved who calls on the name of the Lord.” Also described in Acts 2:20 and versus 34; Rom 1:3; 2 Tm 2:8) but to imply that he is more than this. His superiority derives from his transcendent origin, to which David himself attested when he spoke of the Messiah with the name “Lord” (Ps 110:1). See also note on Mt 22:41–46. “41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus questioned them, 42 saying, “What is your opinion about the Messiah? Whose son is he?” They replied, “David’s.” 43 He said to them, “How, then, does David, inspired by the Spirit, call him ‘lord,’ saying: 44 ‘The Lord said to my lord, “Sit at my right hand until I place your enemies under your feet”’? 45 If David calls him ‘lord,’ how can he be his son?”46 No one was able to answer him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare to ask him any more questions.”
The Beginning and the End is where Jesus comes and goes He is the Word Incarnate and if you believe you can sow the seeds of righteousness that will literally make you glow as someone to know how to find Redemption and live in Salvation across our great globe. Only in Jesus will love, faith and hope be the mercy one must know. Called grace. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty we pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. Silence for the prayers of others dealing with the war in Ukraine. In the Holy Spirit we pray our brothers in Kairos especially a prayer for our men in blue. We pray for our niece Brittany who is a mother of four and 33 years old who has brain cancer stage four. We pray for Holy Mother Church. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.
