But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you. Matthew 6:6

Joel 2:12-18, Psalm 51, 2 Corinthians 5:20-6:2 & Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18

We begin Lent with Ash Wednesday liturgies where the Church uses ashes as the ancient symbol of repentance (sackcloth and ashes). They also remind us of our mortality as you hear the words “remember that you are dust and dust you shall return” and thus bringing closer the day when we will stand before God and be judged. To prepare well for the day we die, we must die now to sin and rise to new life in Christ.

Being marked with ashes at the beginning of Lent indicates our recognition of the need for deeper conversion of our lives during this season of renewal as we live out the 40 days in hope to give more to prayer, fasting and charity. We are reminded today to seek out the LORD in all we do especially in prayer asking the LORD to guide you in faith, repentance and surrender to living a life led by His Word. Give up more than just candy or coffee but give in to God’s Only Son of Redemption to share and to proclaim.

The LORD asks us to all to go to an inner room and close the door to pray to Him in secret allowing you an opportunity to shut out any distractions and wondering thoughts about outside activities and thoroughly focus on the task at hand of praying to the Father alone. I know it’s hard to let go and let God be God when praying for we have countless thoughts and tasks on our minds but God asks us to shut that door and be still in His Presence during prayer.

I personally find early morning as my beginning prayer time as the moment I can find quiet to start my day in His Truth. As I live each day, I call out to the LORD in prayer often as I seek His Counsel to guide my every thought, action and deed. May this Lenten time bring you closer to God in ways you never imagined. May you give more to studying God’s Word, pray over everything you do and make a mends with anyone you hold a grudge against. “And your Father who sees what is hidden will repay you.” Matthew 6:18

In the Holy Trinity we pray to close the door and listen to Your Word as our guide to live for faith, charity and love. We pray for “40 Days of Life” to close abortion clinics. We pray for the Emmaus Team in NJ. We pray for LIFE FM. We pray for all people. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

To behold His Salvation Eternally- 2 Corinthians 5:20-6:2

Let us not judge what we see

As others come to be

Closer to God by prayer

Proclaiming the Good News we dare

As Ambassadors for Christ

God’s Children of delight

His Son’s Redeeming right

To be reconciled with Light

He was made sin to begin

Although sin did not know Him

To share the righteousness to win

To glorify the Father to comprehend

How we are to work together to see

The grace of God to Eternally be

Loved not in vain we must agree

To behold His Salvation Eternally

Matt and I have desired to have entohar child since we were married… we would always pray “Lord give us a child”… then add a small “if it’s your will”, which really meant.. I’m just saying that to make me SOUND like I care, but really — I want a child no matter what you have in store. After 10 miscarriages, a very humbleing experience… our prayer has changed to “We want a child – but if this is not your plan for you to fill this void somehow — then take the desire away”… We can get so caught up in what WE want and forget what GOD wants… knowing that God will never withhold anything good from us (of course forgot the verse, but I WILL find it for you) has reminded me that only HE knows what is good & right for our lives.
