Augustus Caesar world whole decree
THE GOSPEL OF LUKE CHAPTER 1 73 THRU 75
1 In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the whole world should be enrolled. 2 This was the first enrollment, when Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 So all went to be enrolled, each to his own town. 4 And Joseph too went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth to Judea, to the city of David that is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, 5 to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child.
Prophetic completion had to have a step-by-step understanding of why this child in particular would be of the house of David by the father’s Heritage that would fulfill all biblical prophetic utterings without understanding that it was taking place giving birth to the Messiah by grace. This was Joseph and Mary; devout, prayerful living God First.
Sometimes it’s hard to understand how this historical event has anything to do with what we live each and every day. We blindly ignore the needs of others as much as the needs of our own family and bestow on our self ignorance. As we watch the birth but Jesus in scripture become alive in our hearts, we recognize the need to practice overcoming the blatant ugliness of sin prayerful to see redemption proclaimed. Amen.
