Wig’s Word of God Today 1-18-2013

The rest of God in Heaven by your admission of Christ’s saving grace.

And whoever enters into God’s rest, rests from his own works as God did from His. Hebrews 4:10

He preached the Word to them. Mark 2:2c

Hebrews 4:1-11, Psalm 78 & Mark 2:1-12

We see a careful request today from the writer of Hebrews reminding us that we must be on our guard to rest effectively as God did as well as commanded us to do on the Sabbath day. He speaks of fear that lends a hand to caution, care and courage to be very watchful of our works at all times as to not be displeasing to our LORD. Yes, We have an offer of heaven but we risk the chance of losing it if we aren’t obedient to God’s Word in practice, prayer and preaching reminding ourselves weekly to rest and take care of God First.

God’s rest is something we all crave and hope for but cannot be obtained by anything you do but by admitting Jesus Christ is LORD and accepting His call leaning not on our own understanding but that of God’s Word. Many a Biblical Scholar agrees that what Paul speaks here as “rest” is the rest of God in Heaven which ONLY God can confer by your admission of Christ’s saving grace. Here is the Promise of Old to Christians anew allowing us to live the Promise left to Believers of being admitted to the enjoyment of that blessed world where God dwells eternally. Amen.

We ask in prayer: Dear LORD, we pray today we live in Your rest LORD as we undertake Your love’s work. Praying for SC & STL Emmaus. Praying for Kairos Prison Ministry.  Prayers for Dr. Cruz-Peluca. We pray for Greg Bishop to find healing LORD. We pray God we only rest in You. In Jesus Name we Eternally pray. Amen.

Yours in Christ,

Striving to enter the rest of Heaven’s formation– Hebrews 4:1-11

Ok people

Don’t be feeble

Be on your guard

The Promise isn’t too hard

It seems none has failed

In Jesus we in fact must hail

The Good News our ancestors wailed

The Word they were unable to scale

They were not united in faith

Those who listened tried to debate

His wrath to those who can’t relate

Entering not into His rest was His to actuate

His Works formed at our foundation

The Everlasting Peace to our relations

With God to find from His Eternal gestation

Resting on the Sabbath to know His Salvation

Striving to enter the rest of Heaven’s formation
