THE GOSPEL OF LUKE CHAPTER 1 61 THRU 66
61 But they answered her, “There is no one among your relatives who has this name.” 62 So they made signs, asking his father what he wished him to be called. 63 He asked for a tablet and wrote, “John is his name,” and all were amazed. 64 Immediately his mouth was opened, his tongue freed, and he spoke blessing God. 65 Then fear came upon all their neighbors, and all these matters were discussed throughout the hill country of Judea. 66 All who heard these things took them to heart, saying, “What, then, will this child be?” For surely the hand of the Lord was with him.
We don’t see stories like this anymore in current world because we find the past was then and today is now leaning on a cliché that seems to wrap itself around the world’s abusers taking mind, body and soul from the reality many of us fail to live or even disclose. Zachariah puts fear in his neighbors, friends and acquaintances by finding grace when God’s time was ready free his tongue causing him to bless God where no matter what he would continue to place first. Now his son would grow up to be the voice of the desert asking us to repentance baptize ourselves to wash us from sin. What many people may hide in the privacy of their own home becomes reality when calling on our Lord where love, faith and hope brings us to living the story the world tries to steal. Amen.
