The Gospel of Luke 6 v- 20 thru 23

20 And raising his eyes toward his disciples he said: “Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God is yours. 21 Blessed are you who are now hungry, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who are now weeping, for you will laugh. 22 Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude and insult you, and denounce your name as evil on account of the Son of Man. 23 Rejoice and leap for joy on that day! Behold, your reward will be great in heaven. For their ancestors treated the prophets in the same way.”

Today Jesus delivers a profound message known as the Beatitudes, which encapsulates the values of the Kingdom of God. In these verses, He addresses His disciples and the crowds, proclaiming blessings upon those who are marginalized and suffering. In a society that often prioritizes wealth, power, and status, Jesus flips these norms upside down, emphasizing the importance of spiritual poverty, hunger, sorrow, and persecution.

“Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.” This statement highlights the idea that material wealth does not equate to spiritual richness. Jesus acknowledges the struggles of the poor, assuring them that their faith and reliance on God will lead them to eternal blessings. Similarly, “Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied,” speaks to the deep spiritual hunger that comes from seeking righteousness and justice. It assures believers that their longing for fulfillment in God will ultimately be met.

Jesus also addresses those who weep, promising that “you will laugh.” This reflects the transformative power of hope and joy that comes from faith in God, even amidst trials and grief. Furthermore, He acknowledges the persecution faced by His followers, stating, “Blessed are you when people hate you,” and encourages them to rejoice, for their reward in heaven is great.

Overall, these verses invite a radical rethinking of societal values, encouraging believers to find hope and joy in their struggles. They remind us that true blessing comes not from earthly status but from a heart aligned with the values of God’s Kingdom. In a world often characterized by injustice, these teachings offer comfort and a call to a deeper faith. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. 09-11-2024 Luke 6 V-2023

**You are hated because of My Name Blessed are you**

In the shadow where the weary tread,

Jesus speaks to hearts that bleed,

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,” He said,

“For the kingdom’s theirs, in their everyday need.

Hunger gnaws at the soul’s embrace,

Yet those who seek will find their feast,

“Blessed are you who long for grace,

For in your yearning, you’ll be released.

Weeping eyes and heavy hearts,

He whispers hope in sorrow’s night,

“Blessed are you when pain imparts,

For joy will come with morning light.

When the world casts stones, and hate takes flight,

Rejoice, for heaven’s reward is near,

“Blessed are you who stand for what is right,

In trials, your courage will persevere.

In the valleys where the humble dwell,

Jesus turns the tables, lifts the meek,

Through every tear, He knows it well,

In weakness, His strength is what we seek.

So let us hold to these sacred words,

In the face of struggle, stand as one,

For the lowly find their voices heard,

In the kingdom’s light, we are never done. Amen.
