The 1st Letter to The Corinthians 5 v-Six thru Eight
6 Your boasting is not appropriate. Do you not know that a little yeast leavens all the dough? 7 Clear out the old yeast, so that you may become a fresh batch of dough, inasmuch as you are unleavened. For our paschal lamb, Christ, has been sacrificed. 8 Therefore let us celebrate the feast, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
The Apostle Paul today addresses the issue of immorality within the Corinthian church and emphasizes the need for spiritual integrity among believers. He begins by stating, “Your boasting is not good,” highlighting the church’s complacency in the face of sin. This boasting refers to their pride in their spiritual status while ignoring serious moral failures among them, particularly the case of a member engaging in incestuous behavior.
Paul employs the metaphor of leaven to illustrate how sin can permeate and corrupt the entire community. He writes, “A little leaven leavens the whole lump,” suggesting that even a small amount of unaddressed sin can lead to greater moral decay within the church. This metaphor draws upon Jewish customs during Passover, where leaven (yeast) is removed to signify purity and preparation. In this context, Paul calls the Corinthians to “cleanse out the old leaven,” urging them to remove the sinful influences and to restore a sense of holiness.
The apostle further instructs them to “celebrate the festival,” referring to the celebration of the Passover and the metaphorical feast of the new covenant established through Christ. By emphasizing that they are to be “unleavened,” Paul reminds them of their identity as followers of Christ, who is portrayed as the Passover lamb sacrificed for them. This calls for a life characterized by sincerity and truth, contrasting the corrupted influences of sin and falsehoods.
Ultimately, these verses serve as a powerful reminder of the necessity for accountability and discipline within the church community. Paul’s appeal for purity and unity urges believers to maintain their witness and reflect the transformative power of the Gospel in their lives. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20
09-09-2024 1 Corinthians 5 V-0608
**Truth and Sincerity Celebrate Christ**
In Corinth’s heart, a shadow grew,
A sin unmasked, yet few there knew,
With prideful hearts, they turned away,
Ignoring wrongs that led them astray.
“A little leaven!” Paul’s voice rang clear,
“A warning true, for all to hear.
The lump can rise, but not in grace,
If one persists in their dark embrace.
Cleanse out the old, let purity reign,
For Christ, our Lamb, bore all our pain.
In Him we stand, unblemished, whole,
In truth and love, we find our role.
Celebrate the feast, let joy arise,
With hearts anew, we seek the skies.
No room for sin, no place for pride,
In unity, let our hearts reside.
So let us gather, true and pure,
In faith and hope, we shall endure.
For in His light, we’re called to be,
A fragrant offering, surrendered and free. Amen.
